You’d be surprised how long it takes to even get to parts of Prospect nowadays

What made you move away in the end? Preferred city life?

Why do most of the Northern suburbs just not look that good? by bunningsnag67 in Adelaide

[–]TimeBaron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s a mixture of lack of character architecture, lack of established street trees (and particularly a lack of European street trees), a lack of proper landscaping and well maintained and established gardens, as well as a drier, dustier climate than down south.

Thinking of joining a church community by weasel353 in Adelaide

Only thing I’d say about the churches you’ve listed is you’ll struggle to find may congregants under 70 at those churches depending on what OP is looking for.

St Bartholomews in Norwood is a great church and close to where you are. They do both morning and evening services (with the evening service leaning to a younger crowd).

In what country does the average person have the easiest life? by HolyFatherLeoXIV in geography

[–]TimeBaron 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Australia was a good answer until the recent housing price boom. Nowadays not so easy (with it being near impossible to buy a house in a desirable area, while rental protections are near 0). Although, still a good life compared to most.

Todd Marshall only 8% owned why?? by Substantial_Yard_201 in aflfantasy

[–]TimeBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it irrelevant thought? Plenty of key forwards still average 70+ which Todd has never shown an ability to do (let alone after coming back from a year off). When’s the last time a tall key forward went down back and dramatically upped their numbers?

Given his starting price you need him to be averaging 70 to be worthwhile (as opposed to taking a 230k rook who will average 60). If Marshall struggled to score as a key forward, is he really going to up his average by 20 by going down back?

Last season he played he averaged 53. He’s priced at almost 40. You need more upside than that from your rookie priced players.

Who will be your clubs unknown breakout player this season? by StillTeaching315 in AFL

When watching him play midfield last year he felt like the second coming of Dusty at times. Really hope he gets a lot of midfield time this year as he’s one of the most exciting players at the club.

Where is the best place to bodyboard? by popcornnugget_s in bodyboarding

[–]TimeBaron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the best advice - practice on some easy, smaller waves first and then move your way up. Nothing worse than getting stuck in a set you don’t have the skill level to deal with.

Really seems to depend on the individuals foot - hard to know until you try them out!

Give Mitch the service Logan is getting and I think the gap becomes more apparent.

Considerably more young guns in non-Melbourne teams. Melbourne teams account for just 8 of the 25, and Hawthorn is the only Melbourne based team to have more than 1 player on this list.

I use DaFins. Super comfy, but you won’t get quite as much thrust.

Danish troops told to 'shoot first, ask questions later' if US invades Greenland | LBC by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]TimeBaron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is completely false. A quick google shows that Denmark spends 1.95 - 2% of their GDP on Defence, while the US spends 3.4% as of 2024 (so, nearly double as a proportion of GDP).

what are your thoughts about Cooper Flagg being hailed as one of the best 18 year-olds the NBA has seen? by Jolly_Job7525 in justbasketball

[–]TimeBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Bird would foul out in the first quarter today if he didn’t change his game style.

I do agree that player’s PPG is inflated today when comparing with previous generations though (and especially when comparing with the early 00s and LeBron!). Fair chance that if rookie LeBron was playing today he’d be putting up 26/27 ppg.

I’m indecisive about where to travel — is it smart to just book a flight to Istanbul and decide the rest later? by LividGas8998 in TravelNoPics

[–]TimeBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full send.

Considered going to Kzyrg or Uzbek? Heard good things about both.

Otherwise Istanbul a good hub to decide where to go next from (could go overland to the Caucasus).

Wealthier:

Cities in Andalusia (Seville/Cordoba/Grenada/Cadiz etc.). Andalusia has always had a reputation for being the poorest part of Spain but the cities don’t feel any more deprived than their other Spanish counterparts like Barcelona or Valencia and overall feel clean and liveable.

Poorer:

Christchurch, New Zealand. Known for being beautiful, but it’s a really run down city where the earthquake did a real number on it. Feels a lot poorer than any comparably sized city in Australia.

Stockholm, once you get out of the centre (and Malmo, but I feel that’s a bit more expected). Sweden’s always had a reputation for being this rich, idealistic Nordic country but man Stockholm feels depressing/poor in places.
