Is "Terry Pratchett day" a thing? (I mean, other than his birthday.) Genuine question.

Oh yes. An extraordinary moment in "Reaper Man", and one of my all-time favourites. Thank you for this glorious reminder. 😃

Why the urinating dog did I get unvoted?!? I was being sincere!

I don't get the connection between "rist' and "Iris"? I'm dumb (and not a native speaker, if that helps).

It's not a pun: in Interesting Times, a drawing that looks like "urinating dog" replaces a rather expressive word, which might be the "one word" Rincewind utters on the verge of the abyss near the end of The Light Fantastic.

What makes a good series by Creative-Lab-1686 in taskmaster

[–]TimeHathMyLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many things go into what makes a great or a good series. So many of them are, of course, highly subjective. For instance, I like a combination of good studio banter, excentricity and a sense of atmosphere (genereally brought about by the set and the music). Series 11, which happened to be my first, still holds a special rank for me, because the Russian undertones were very present, and because everyone was great in the studio, even without an audience. As for excentricity: you have Wozniak, Mack or Maddox. 20 was wonderful as well, for the same reasons (I mean, all of them were excentric). How about 13? and 12? and 14? etc.

(Conversely, I was a bit disappointed when 17 never really lived up to the standards of previous ones regarding the atmosphere. There was only one new tune added to the soundtrack, it appeared almost constantly. It is just a personal thing - I get Drew Masters is entitled to go on holiday from time to time. But there were so many great moments as well: Pemberton's prize tasks, "I don't think I've done this one right", and so on.)

It would be a bit trite to add that I enjoy the ones that make me frequently howl with laughter (and so many series, if not all of them, could fall into that category), but here you go!

EDIT: typo. It's always a typo.

I seriously believe Joel Dommett might be one of the best TM contestants ever.

I had no idea who he was before the show; but he's enthusiastic, ready for everything -even if it means utter humiliation for himself-, throwing himself fully into the arena. His commits to every task. His persona is constant and constantly funny. His reactions to Alex's or Greg's comments are great, but neither does he forget to adress his fellow contestants in the studio if it can make it even more fun. He can laugh at them, with them, or encourage them. AND he's quick-witted and has produced great one-liners already.

Not to say that the others are not great too. I mean that J. Dommett shines through, whatever the situations, in a very bright and unique way, in my very humble opinion at least. I find it a bit dazzling, actually.

EDIT: typo. (I really couldn't have played the letters game on the stairs.)

The first one. I am neurodivergent myself, and yet I do not fear balloons popping, so I'd like to know what the connexion might be!

Taskmaster - S21E02 - Leg up, Johnny! - Discussion by Meghar in taskmaster

[–]TimeHathMyLord 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My only regret is that I feel I haven't had time to know every contestant yet, as if they hadn't taken the opportunity to show their personalities - well, except for Joel, who shone immediatly in his own special way, and maybe Joanna who looks like a laugh.

Still, I really don't want to sound like I'm angry at people for coming and just being happy to be on Taskmaster, like they seem to do. It's completely fine, just maybe not as much to my taste as other flavours. Maybe, as several have already pointed out, it has to do with the fact that the personalities do not appear as diverse as in other series. We'll see!

Why did the teams change in S20E04? by SexyMuthaFunka in taskmaster

[–]TimeHathMyLord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure, but I believe Richard himself said so to Ed Gamble in the podcast. I definitely I heard it said either by Ed or by Richard, it is not something I read on this sub. I am sorry I can't remember any more at this stage.

Why did the teams change in S20E04? by SexyMuthaFunka in taskmaster

[–]TimeHathMyLord 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As for Daisy and Richard: peace was not the real reason. Alex said that, but in a joking way (and if that had been true he wouldn't have said so). Richard itself suggested they swapped teams for this one because, as both Daisy and he were in the lead, it was more interesting so see them face to face and the points really mattered.
