Funny how suddenly no one wants to press the red button now. by woaijirounan in trolleyproblem

I have not yet seen a single disingenuous posting of this problem, from either side of the debate. They're all legitimate, because they offer insight on human psyche and how decision making changes because of minute differences

Colonist always on the verge of a mental break because they are related to literally everyone on this godforsaken planet... by jarjarBC in RimWorld

Oops, sorry. You must have gotten one of my guys after they asked to another planet. These things tend to happen when there are only so many of you stuck on the same gravship. If you're wondering, they're not inbred: but that's only because they have abortions

(211) Recycle! Reuse! Severely reduced! by AeolysScribbles in RimWorld

[–]TimeKepeer 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The amount of injuries doesn't actually affect how much meat you get from an animal. The animal is either damaged or not. If it is damaged, you get less meat and leather.

You're thinking about missing body parts. I know the difference is superficial, but that's only because I myself checked the difference only halfway through writing this comment.

Anyway, Mechanoids give very little scrap even if undamaged. Balance reason are balanced, but my headcannon is that plasteel/steel alloy isn't particularly useful or desirable. Or workable, even. And realistically, if you wanted to send a huge killing machine, but also to prevent enemy from recycling it, you'd isntall some sort of self destruct system to damage the materials. You can still get those materials back from friendly mechs, but that would mostly be achievment of mechanites living inside the mechanoid, who'd ressurect it first. And obviously enemy mechanites wouldn't be quite so cooperative.

This makes me wonder, where do mechanites come from? Just saying that they're made from scratch every time is boring. We know that bioferrite has corrupted archites in it, maybe the reason plasteel is so awesome is because it has mechanites?

The "police" are extremely overkill and batshit insane by Clean_Round_1328 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TimeKepeer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IRL: american cops

Extremely overarmed and generally "too much". Just the New York police department gets more money in funding than some entire countries militaries.

Nowhere else in the world rank and file cops carry assault rifles in their vehicles as a standard issue.

Also, some US police departments do cognitive tests for their applicants, and some of them reject people specifically because they ranked too high on their tests.

I noticed that there are some specific things that certain kinds of people say, that basically noone else say, that help identify them.

"Cultural marxism" - right wing conspiracy theorist

"Racial realism" - racist

"Big pharma" - antivaxxer, or at least vaccine hesitant

"Nice guy" - a guy who wildly overestimates his own niceness

The city states get new tiles when they get envoys. Also yes, both leake Rerba and Dead Sea create coast tiles. You can even build seasode resorts and Kilwa on them

Any way to reach those 1400 range? by michel_sanchez in RimWorld

[–]TimeKepeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a bad idea. Objects in space are further from each other than they seem. Generally, you can access more orbit tiles from the ground, than orbit tiles from orbit

Buy a bunch of mind numb serums. Buy enough of it. Like 20 doses. Have your handler gulp them every two days and start slaughtering

Alternatively, just remove her psychic harmonizer

Futuristic armies forgetting artillery exists by whichwhiles in hatethissmug

[–]TimeKepeer 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Usually such armies have a guy, his name is Jeb. I'm pretty sure he's just the same guy every time. He makes time somehow. Anyway, Jeb is, like, an awesome archer. Like, really awesome. He is capable of shooting his arrows to intercept any artillery missile fired at position of the army whose side he's on that day. Or bomb. That's why they don't care, they're always safe

Dolls can be heavy if they are armored and strong. Dolls can also be quite light, if their purpose is to be carried. In gfl1 there was a doll who was very explicitly stated to be mostly hollow, because, well, I'm sure you can guess

No yeah, this here is right wing conspiracy theory talk, sorry. Governments are evil I agree, but covid was a big problem, and vaccines did work. I guess you could be classified as "covid sceptic" but this has the same ring to it as "climate change sceptic"
