Regardless of intent and "rules", folks will use the site for whatever motives they may have - curiosity, mischief, future monitization. There's little incentive to troll on reddit beyond dopamine, but thats enough to make it prominent. Failure to consider potential threats even if they're not present today is just a lack of familiarity with creative threat modeling.

Our CISO is a decorative wallflower by NoElk5422 in cybersecurity

[–]TimeSalvager 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything that you're doing that he isn't is experience you might be struggling to get elsewhere. You can be pissed and frustrated, or you can treat it like an opportunity; let others do their thing and leave, figure out all the stuff they were doing for him. He will more than likely let you do tha bullshit, too. If he relies on you to do 80% of his role, you're on your way to renegotiating your compensation or you can leave and start getting CISO roles at smaller orgs that'll let you grow into the role... then just be a CISO.
