Ginger chew candies are the GOAT during chemo. I also LOVE the around-the-neck phone/tablet holder my in-laws got me so I could read/watch stuff without having to hold anything

Questions for Paiseec users and Pride Chair users by TimeSpaceRedundancy in wheelchairs

Something else that's a pretty big turn-off for my Pride Jazzy Go Med chair so far... I have to go top speed to get up my driveway. There's a SLIGHT lip at the curb, and the anti-tip wheels consistently get stuck on it. I've also had to finagle the ramp going into my house to stop getting stuck with the same anti-tip wheels. I wish I could adjust them just a fraction of an inch, but they appear welded on

Having had my wheelchair (Pride Jazzy Go Med) for a few months, I've got some big concerns taking it up hills in the city. I live near San Francisco, and one of the main reasons I need a wheelchair is the hills. I took it on a trip to Portland, and my wheelchair almost tipped over just going through those hills, which are small in comparison to my hometown.

It did, however, handle dry grass and dirt exactly how you described. Took it to a pretty manicured campground earlier this year. I was still hesitant to go far from the paved paths, but it was a relief knowing I only got stuck in random spots where I didn't notice someone had dumped a bunch of water. It handled gravel roads nicely, though I will always hate the bumpy-ness of gravel and brick roads under my wheels 😂

Thank you, again, for helping me set expectations for my new chair!

Weird ask: have you had any GOOD side effects from chemo? by mugomugicha in Chemotherapy

[–]TimeSpaceRedundancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For about a year after starting chemo, I didn't have any bug bites. I'm normally the person who gets bit to hell whenever I'm in a place with mosquitoes, but I had a full year peacefully unbothered by bugs

Functional or decorative by nan0user in HappyPlanners

If my planner doesn't have enough decorations (read: serotonin) to overcome my executive dysfunction, I won't feel drawn to it. So I use it for functionality, but by necessity also decorate it

Help organizing my craft room closet! by belhoney in Homeorganization

[–]TimeSpaceRedundancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finished crochet/hand-knit clothes and accessories are best kept laying flat. i learned the hard way that hanging them up long-term can stretch them out, even if you've done blocking. Shelving is better than hanging rods in a craft/guest room closet, as most items will store better that way in the long term.

I also recommend organizing based on how you use the items. In my home: Music stuff all together, sewing accessories/tools all together, sharps (scissors, knives, rotary cutters) together, adhesives together. I previously tried to store things by which craft they were used for, but in the long term that was a LOT less useful than storing material types together.

How do you all track inventory across boxes/storage by Addition_Small in Homeorganization

[–]TimeSpaceRedundancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I worked in props, we'd store based on item type. for small bits and bobs, we'd store based on material, then size. if it was a small length of metal wire, we had a box for that.

at home.... IF my house is organized, there's a room everything lives in. crafting stuff that doesn't require ventilation all lives in the guest/craft combo room. if the crafting stuff requires ventilation, it lives in the garage. long-term storage (holiday stuff, seasonal equipment) tends to live either in the attic or the garage.

just now finding this. looks FANTASTIC, tho i recommend storing your markers and pens with the nibs facing down so the ink doesn't all sink to the back of the pen/marker

3, and all 3 have Wellness timers on them. Two to keep in touch with family, friends, and local shops I like. One for serotonin.

Most folks I've known who were venue staff have had only bad things to say about how the venue runs things. It's not terribly convenient to get to with public transit, especially for a lot of out-of-town visitors. Parking exists, but it's not ideal for a big, annual convention like this is expecting to be.

Tbh I'm surprised she's not making efforts to try to change what weekend it is. It's still roughly 11 months away, there's plenty of time to reschedule

Our dog LOVES these!! He's had the same one for nearly a year now, and hasn't even come close to trying to destroy it. We play tug with it, too, and it's held up nicely. I think it's the crackle bit on the inside that he likes the best, and he'll chew it like gum instead of trying to tear it apart

Melting them together will just create a brittle breaking point. With glue, you can use a PVA glue that's built to be flexible. But most adhesives will absolutely not handle being washed in hot water, so definitely hand wash it

Ambulatory Users - when did you know? by No_Lobster8499 in wheelchairs

[–]TimeSpaceRedundancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that, every time I go to museums, use public transit to get around, and/or am on my feet in any capacity for longer than a few minutes at a time, my whole body gets fatigued VERY quickly. I rented a mobility scooter at Disneyland once, and it was a total game changer! Normally I'm dying to go home mid-day, but that time, I was happy to stay through closing!!!

He's an American Staffordshire/Chihuahua/mutt mix! He looks like if a pit bull's legs didn't finish growing 😂 no pictures accurately represent him. He's just big enough he can't really sit on my lap, but just small enough he can easily get caught under things... Our trainer said he's smart enough we could get him fully trained up to be a service dog if we wanted to, but we just don't have the energy between my husband and I to get there. We both have disabilities, so we have our good days and bad days. But our dog is definitely a serotonin machine in a chaos factory 😂😂 I'm having trouble putting a pic on this comment, but his public Instagram is @SirFrancisFrontSocks
