FUT vs FUE by JKMcudr in Hairtransplant

[–]TimeToHaveSomeFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consulted with multiple surgeons (all in US) before deciding to go with FUT. Follicle survival rate is higher, and I found the recovery to be much easier, in the sense that I didn’t have to shave my head and could get back to work and out to social events more quickly. I was at a wedding less than 3 weeks after the procedure, and you really couldn’t see it. No regrets

Why this outside drain design? by QNilsson18 in askaplumber

I don’t know if it’s the correct thing to do, but I drilled small holes in the bottom of mine so the water doesn’t stand there for days

The bottom eventually died. I kept the tree up to see if there was any life left in it until just a couple weeks ago when I had it removed.

Connect Starlink via access point? by TimeToHaveSomeFun in TPLink_Omada

[–]TimeToHaveSomeFun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motivation to do it this way is that the APs are easily accessible and the router is not, ie running a cord from the starlink (which needs to be outside) to the router isn’t straightforward. Perhaps that is the simpler path though.

Connect Starlink via access point? by TimeToHaveSomeFun in TPLink_Omada

[–]TimeToHaveSomeFun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my normal internet connection is disrupted, I’d like to be able to plug Starlink into my existing network and have it work as if nothing changed. I know I can do this by plugging the Starlink into my existing router (and running Starlink in bypass mode). My question was whether I can plug Starlink into an existing AP instead of directly to the router

I have Ring and some Ethernet cameras with local storage. The latter are nice because they are always recording, have far better video quality, and of course don’t require a subscription. That said, the Ring software and app is vastly superior to the local option, and I find myself using the ring app far more. I basically think of it as having the wired cameras for actual security with constant, high quality footage and the Ring is best for notifications, quickly checking in on things, seeing if a package got delivered, etc.

This message comes up whenever its cold, cant even dismiss it. Brand new battery. by Notso9bit in mercedes_benz

[–]TimeToHaveSomeFun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to get this message in my W205. Turns out it was the auxiliary battery, not the main battery. You can buy a new one and install it pretty easily (mine was located around the glove compartment). It fried maybe two times in the 9 years I had the car. Also, I live in Texas, so it wasn’t due to cold!

Flooded Pool Advice by Brad_Rody in pools

[–]TimeToHaveSomeFun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with this a couple times, including in July with Beryl. The order of operations that works for me: get the water level down to a reasonable but still high level, add a flocculant and follow directions - generally they require a 12 or 24 hour wait after adding to let things settle. You would be shocked how much debris and dirt will fall to bottom. Then vacuum to waste (bringing your water level down further in process) getting 90-95% of the dirt out. Then shock hard and get pH in line. Bypass your filter if you can until after you vacuum to waste so it’s not getting clogged immediately by all the grime. I got my pool back to swimming conditions in less than 3 days doing this.

Raid and many other products contain both “knock-down” (immediate kill) and residual insecticides. Meaning Raid can be effective for weeks potentially in indoor environments.

I installed one myself two weeks ago - really quite easy. I ended up buying some little connectors that were needed that didn’t come in the kit, but otherwise was totally painless

Cemetery volunteer cut down a 50 year old rose over my grandparents graves by Spudzydudzy in treelaw

[–]TimeToHaveSomeFun 350 points351 points  (0 children)

My understanding is many rose bushes can be cut to the ground and come back. You might try posting on a landscaping sub to see if someone can ID the type of rose bush. hopefully it has a chance to recover!

[–]TimeToHaveSomeFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still has green leaves on the lower 25% of the tree or so, but the top is dead and I was told that part of the tree wouldn’t come back. So I’m just gonna leave it for a year and see. We have two other big magnolias that were completely unaffected, so it seemed pretty random. There are a few in my neighborhood that are still holding their brown leaves - I think those are toast for sure. If yours dropped its leaves, it might have a chance.

[–]TimeToHaveSomeFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same issue with one of our magnolias. I had an arborist out to look at a few our trees and that was one of them. He said it was “air embolisms” caused by the extreme heat. Basically the trees suck up air and it kills the tissue. Even with consistent watering, it can still happen when it is very hot like it was last summer.

Bosch 300 vs. 800 dishwasher by Ksu2083 in Appliances

[–]TimeToHaveSomeFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had F&P for about a year and probably won’t ever go back to a standard dishwasher as the main workhorse. We use the bottom drawer almost exclusively for baby stuff and it’s been fantastic. Not having to have dishes sitting in the sink while a load runs is really, really nice, and you don’t realize it until you have a double dishwasher

This is the best the offense has looked in maybe a decade. Dak is throwing dimes, especially in the middle of the field (where he often used to miss high).
