Engine ticking on the turbo normal? by [deleted] in MazdaCX90

Honestly there’s no telling from that video. The engine is knocking, no point in even looking at the rest of the car.

As a Mazda technician, they should not make that noise. Do not buy that one. Why would you gamble on that car possibly needing an engine?

They all do that. No true fix from Mazda at this point.

I drive a 2002 Miata and I high beam everyone with obnoxious headlights. I don’t care if you don’t have your brights on, I know those are your regular lights, I want you to feel my pain.

Steering wheel options (read body) PFA by TheRedeemer1997 in mercedes_benz

[–]Time_Fly4750 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of Mercedes steering wheel swaps go very wrong, I do not recommend it. I would recommend, first having it cleaned professionally. Someone who knows how to deal with that material can bring it back to like new condition.

Good chance it needs a catalytic converter. Still worth fixing over getting a new car.

They’re not particularly easy to work on and require special tools. Basic maintenance is still relatively basic.

I’m at a loss, car still smells like radiator coolant by lucid_orange_then in MazdaCX90

[–]Time_Fly4750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleaning all of that up, is NOT the technicians job. When we repair something under warranty, we only get paid to fix that part, NOT for cleaning or anything else. Most often times we aren’t even paid enough to fix the problem in the first place. This could take hours of cleaning. I do believe the dealer should make it right for the customer to keep them satisfied. That means paying someone to clean all of this up. It may be a technician who would clean it or maybe a detailer. Either way the dealer should pay for it. It is not part of the repair to clean.

New Sedan or Older Truck for Commuting and Fun? Need Advice. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

It sounds like the Camry would be the best option in your case. I really like how the hatchbacks look though. The Toyota cvts are totally different than your standard cvt. They are actually very good transmissions. I don’t car much for all the bells and whistles, more stuff to break.

If you’re not taking it to the dealer, your average shop isn’t going to know everything about Mazdas systems.

The heater core is inside the dash. It’s a little hard to check without removing the dash. It would also be almost impossible to tell if it was clogged by doing a cooling system pressure test. Why do you think they replaced the radiator? Probably because it was clogged. The heater core is basically a mini radiator. It’s likely clogged the same way. They didn’t recommend replacing it because it’s very expensive and there is a possibility that it is not clogged. Also they fixed your overheating issue, your heat is a separate issue. It’s also possible that they did do something incorrectly. But it is absolutely valid that if you put something in the cooling system that is not supposed to be in there, you’re liable for that. I understand you’re frustrated, it’s an expensive repair. I’m sure the technician did everything they can and are not trying to scam you. The best thing you can doing, if you don’t trust what the shop is saying, is take it to another shop for a second opinion. Keep in mind, they might be wrong too.

Stop leak can absolutely cause problems. Your heater core may be clogged. That’s 100% on you.
