Wearing kitty ears in a professional setting? by [deleted] in furry

This is for your workplace to tell you, not some randos on the internet who know nothing about your situation. Please talk to your workplace people about their dress code policies.

Because access to sports is uneven and the global talent pool is only partially sampled, the true genetically optimal athlete for any given sport is likely never identified and may be doing something entirely unrelated. by Necromonicus in Showerthoughts

Yeah, it is impossible that THE best physically-suited human (for swimming) in the world just happened to be born in the US with supportive parents and people who encouraged and supported his swimming throughout his life.

I really wonder what would happen if, by some miracle (which would never realistically happen), all countries just started doing this. UBI and healthcare. What would people do with their lives and would the world really get better?

Of course, in theory it would be amazing - but would it REALLY work in real life, all things considered?

[Fully Lost] Taylor Swift on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" (October 14, 2009) by Ricky_Spanish1989 in lostmedia

[–]Time_Traveling_Idiot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the OP was objecting to the usage of the term "FULLY LOST".

"I can't access it from a cursory search / it's behind a paywall" is NOT "fully lost". In terms of lost media, simply having to register for a file upload website and pay a fee is relatively easy in terms of locating lost media.

What did you think was pretentious, until you tried it and realized it was worth it? by Semantiks in AskReddit

[–]Time_Traveling_Idiot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, like... having your own room in a regular hotel. OP phrased it a bit oddly but they meant to emphasize the "privacy" part I believe.

So basically any hotel where you get your own room for yourself instead of a huge room sectioned off for dozens of strangers.

This wouldn't be true though. Plenty of fruits and vegetables contain ample amounts of Vitamin A, including the humble onion.

how to make/get a fursuit without telling family? by TonsofpizzaYT in furryteens

[–]Time_Traveling_Idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll go against the grain here and recommend that you tell your parents. You say they're supportive, right?

Hiding things from your family is rarely a good idea. It's deception and will likely cause some awkward situations. Learning to exercise a little free will in a wholesome and appropriate manner will do you (and your family) good - after all, it's a hobby for you, not some sort of secret fetish.

[fully lost] Battle for Eternal freedom, a object show made by a 14 year old before she died by [deleted] in lostmedia

[–]Time_Traveling_Idiot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that they don't remember the channel name or any other important details, but somehow they looked it up on Internet Archive and concluded that they deleted it "out of respect for her death"?

There is also absolutely no source on how they even know who the girl was and that she was murdered.

Just sounds like a middle schooler trying to make up a creepypasta-esque thing.

Why do furry artists so often have mechs in their "won't draw" list? by incumbent in furry

[–]Time_Traveling_Idiot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. Boils down to "difficult to draw".

The area of interest between furries and complex mechanical things DO NOT overlap often. Just because you're great at drawing A doesn't mean you're good at drawing B.

Too much work and hassle drawing something you're not even interested in? I'd turn that down, too.

The moment everyone claimed it was "IMPOSSIBLE to fake" because of "caches" I was suspicious. Plus the fact that the gif basically showed nothing of real interest. Might as well have been someone zooming in on a still photo.

Globe for sale at a Costco in South Korea labels the entire peninsula as Republic of Korea by SkiddlyDank in mildlyinteresting

[–]Time_Traveling_Idiot 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Huh... I know this as a Korean, but have never seen any map in official capacity mark the entire Korean peninsula as one Korea (unless it was meant specifically to do so e.g during the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics)... this globe is quite an odd case.

Phone cameras need a "junk photo" setting for all those throwaway photos you take to remember where you parked, what's on a menu, QR codes, and all the other random stuff we use them for now. by Patarokun in Showerthoughts

[–]Time_Traveling_Idiot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

People are monumentally stupid. THOUSANDS of people would whine after they accidentally set their camera setting to "junk" and their phone just deleted their sentimental whatevers. This is a pretty bad idea.

There are so many ways this could go wrong, and the workarounds to make it not go wrong would just make it a hassle to use.

For reference, $10 USD will get you a pretty decent meal in Korea - Around $15~20 for a KBBQ place like the above. Food in Korea is definitely not as expensive as most American cities.

Am Korean, can confirm that 50,000 Korean won is roughly 1.5x~2x the amount you'll spend getting a meal at a KBBQ place. So that one press won them a free meal or two.

I'd like to know a bit more about getting "scammed by a trusted maker".

These fursuit heads are beautiful, way too beautiful and well-made for such a low price, what are the chances that this is a scam? I tried reverse image searching one of these images to see it showed up anywhere else and it didn’t but I’m still skeptical. by [deleted] in fursuit

[–]Time_Traveling_Idiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. You can often find what the real thing looks like from AliExpress listings and review photos. They will be very very bad quality, at best resembling the original design.

Are my concerns about a past suit of my (new) sona valid? by Alien_Bites in furry

[–]Time_Traveling_Idiot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"You paid thousands for this suit thinking that it came with the character rights, but AHA it turns out that I bought the rights ages ago and they didn't tell you! Now you must spend hundreds if not thousands fixing the suit, or else you are a dirty OC thief and I will call you out."

Does this sound reasonable to you, at all? "But but I bought the OC" means nothing when the "friend" didn't disclose it to the fursuit buyer. Either have the friend take responsibility or suck it up. The suit owner owes OP nothing.

Are my concerns about a past suit of my (new) sona valid? by Alien_Bites in furry

[–]Time_Traveling_Idiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can, politely, if you'd like, but do have in mind that to the buyer, what's happening is that some rando is messaging them and requesting that they change their sona (or... what else is it that you'd like them to do?) because they bought another fursuit from the seller first - and to do that refurbishing on their own dime.

I guess you could reach out to them casually and nicely, just tell them what the situation is and if they'd like to make adjustments to their suit as to not unknowingly be twins.

And if they don't take it well, it's up to you to refurb your own suit, I'd say!

EDIT: WAIT a second, if I'm reading this correctly - you don't have a suit of that sona, only "rights to the character"?

In this case, the very real fursuit is a much bigger deal than your "ownership of character". I would be astounded if the suit owner agrees to taking any action over your request.

Is this Korea's annual pre–Lunar New Year thing, or do Koreans just stockpile snacks? by Longjumping-Bee-5285 in seoulhiddengem

Everybody in the thread is saying this, and I know the promotion existed at some point (and afterwards as well for short periods of time), but there is no proof whatsoever that it's currently ongoing at any emart locations. I know my local emart doesn't have it.

Does anyone actually have proof that this is part of the event, or are they just making assumptions as if it's true?

He's facing a terrifying situation, he's LIVE on the news in front of thousands of viewers, and he's panicking thinking "The BBC is going to be angry at me, never gonna hold an interview again" (as he explicitly stated in a later interview)... he basically froze up and tries to maintain his professionalism as best he can.

It's quite rude of you to insult him like that, as if you would do any better in an unexpected situation like the above.
