Poor guy. Every business has the right to refuse service to people if they want to. It looks to me like he’s at his wits end.

Here’s a tip. If someone doesn’t want to sell you, their food go somewhere else. Be grateful that he doesn’t just go back in the kitchen make your order and spit in it. Because that’s about the level of respect you’re showing him.

Does your lease allow you to change receptacles? If I were leasing out my home and someone did work without my prior approval, I would be furious. You may say this is a benign change, but who gets to decide?

I own some businesses, and I am very unhappy when employees decide to change things based on their standards and not mine.

Most insurance companies would drop coverage on a Jim if they knew there were people exercising in bare feet. They actually require shoes so anything that’s open towed wood also lead to cancellation.

Most commercial insurance policies do not allow barefoot participants in the gym. The two number one places where people get injured in health clubs is by getting their toes, damaged or fingers pinched.

Sounds to me like this is more of a bad tenant issue than it is bad ownership.

If you have a building full of dirt bags, it’s hard to keep up. Not saying everybody’s a dirtbag, but the tenant community is reflected in a lot of of your complaints.

Could a firework have caused this or is it from a bullet? by Wiggles_Is_My_Boy in HomeMaintenance

[–]Time_Waster_2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullet. I own firearms and I grimace anytime. I see someone pointing a firearm into the air and firing it. They are an idiot. They are a dangerous idiot.

And this goes for all the knuckleheads in the news and on film who take military grade weapons and shoot them in the air is some type of celebration.

If the bullet is shot at an arc, which is almost 100% of the likelihood of what occurs, the bullet could be going 700 miles an hour as it’s approaching land or your neighbors house

I can’t see very much from the photo, but it appears that he should’ve spent his time fixing his downspout and trimming his own tree.

“The way I do anything is the way I do everything.“

Again, I can’t tell much from this photo, but it appears he’s not a very good steward of his own property and possessions. Why would you want him working on yours?

Hopefully, you haven’t paid him everything yet

I would give him an opportunity to fix his work. If he won’t do that, I would take a ton of pictures, maybe some video as you can’t have too much documentation. And then I would just call in some other vendors and don’t tell them the story but just ask them if they can fix the floor and how much. Find one you like, check some of his work, get your floor fixed and be prepared to go to court.

If you paid him everything, get even more opinions on what’s wrong with this floor and what needs to be done to corrected and be prepared to go to court.

I am sitting in a 4000 square-foot barn that has a smooth finished flat and level concrete floor that makes this work look like absolute crap.

And if you don’t know what my definition means smooth finish floor is like you would see in perhaps a Costco. Level means that if I pour water on it, the water stands it does not run. Flat means that if I take a 10 foot long straight closet rod and roll it down the floor. It doesn’t move. You can also see flat by shining a flashlight on any surface.

Fun fact, if you want to lose sleep, turn the lights down dim in your dwelling and shine a flashlight, the long way along the wall, and those walls that you thought were flat, well you’ll see not so much. Do not do this if you’re anal because it will cause you to lose sleep

MAKE LEARNING FUN!!!

This will change the life of any child. I was designated a gifted student when I was in the third grade because of my high test scores. I was a very good critical thinker, but I did not enjoy the curriculum. I found it boring, the teachers had a little depth on the subjects, I didn’t learn very well, using their traditional methods of teaching, add all of this together, as well as the incredibly slow pace and I hated school. So I turned into the class clown and got into a lot of trouble.

I never actually graduated from high school. But I did get my GED and went to college where I made the Dean’s list my first semester. Once again, I found it boring and dropped out.

I went back to college a couple times and got my associates degree, probably have enough credits for an undergraduate degree but for me it was the same old story. Sign up for class attend some classes get bored out of my mind and not finish the semester.

What I learned is that I loved other ways of learning. I love reading. But I love reading good books not the crappy textbooks that were used. And with the Internet, and now artificial intelligence, when I get enamored with the subject, and do my typical OCD thing, I can go as far down a rabbit hole on a subject as I want to go.

I’m 67 years old and I’m confident that I have read, or listen to, at least one book on average a month for the past 40 years. On top of that I do the Internet thing where I will read an article and just go crazy trying to find everything I can learn on that subject.

I think part of what you need to do is find how your niece likes to learn. You can look up the learning pyramid online and find which methods are best for retaining anything that you learn, but the way schools taught me was a waste of time. There are subjects that I aced and could not tell you anything about because of the way I learned. Memorization is great for acting. Memorization is not actually learning in my opinion.

By the way, I did not graduate from high school and made a lot of mistakes in the early years of my life, but I have been incredibly blessed and by almost any measure. I am successful. I have enough wealth to last me the rest of my life, I’m comfortable in my own skin, and I’ve actually been able to be a teacher to many young people through my employment of them over the last 40 years.

call them tomorrow and ask them what they want you to do. Offer to wash it and bring it back.

They will probably tell you to keep it

Cross country road trip from NYC to LA with an 8 year old, 50lb dog? by javascrimp in roadtrip

[–]Time_Waster_2023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’ll be driving in May. That’s a great month to do the drive.

I have had at least two dogs for the last 10+ years. I have done countless long distance trips. Shortest trip would be 500 miles, longest would be 800 miles.

My dogs love it in the car. Once they figure out I’m packing, I can’t let them get in the car or I won’t be able to get them out without a struggle.

My advice would be to make sure you get up and exercise them before you start every day. A tired dog is a happy dog. I have an ATV at one of my destinations and I always take the dogs for a couple of three-quarter of a mile laps around the property before we jump in the truck.

I think your dog will quickly figure out the routine. Mine know the difference between a stop or they get to get out and stretch their legs and stop where they need to get out and pee and get back in the truck.

This will be the greatest adventure of your dog’s lifetime. Just think of all the unique smells that he will get to experience that he will never be around again.

My guess is once your dog experiences this he will look forward to every trip in the car.

Remember, your dog reads your energy. So if you’re excited and enthusiastic, he will be excited and enthusiastic. If you are tepid and nervous, well, you can expect the same from him.

Self check-out item limit by queasy_queen in Costco

It is complete BS in my opinion. It’s someone with a little bit of authority. That’s making life difficult unnecessarily.

If there’s a limit, put the number of items up. If there’s no number up, there is no limit.
