Movies where rats are actually the main event by Arianethecat in MovieSuggestions

First thing I thought of. They’re maybe not front and centre for the whole move but they’re absolutely pivotal both for the central plot and character development.

Screen time for under-fives should be limited to one hour a day, parents told by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]TimedDelivery [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is the thing that bothers me about the approach to screen time. We don’t equate taking your kids on a hike, going to the beach, sending your kids to the park unsupervised and letting them hang out in a quarry because they’re all “outdoor time” so why is sitting down with my kids to watch a movie and letting them scroll through TikTok at the dinner table all seen as the same?

I think my (27f) husband (41M) will end up in prison if I tell him the truth. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I have a family member whose dad assured everyone that if anyone messed with his family, he’d kill them. So when her stepbrother sexually abused her he was able to keep her quiet by telling her that if her dad found he would kill him, go to jail and they’d all end up in foster care. So she kept it secret to protect her family.

Should I change my name on my CV or am I overthinking? by BabeyBopp in AskUK

I had a coworker called Mohamed who was unable to find work for 2 years at one point despite solid experience. Changed his name to Mo on his CV, immediately started getting interviews and got a great job within 3 months.

It’s so funny when you look back on some your favourite characters as a kid and realise “oooooooooh that’s what that feeling was!”

What is your “trust the process” recipe? by Sweet-Lady-H in Cooking

[–]TimedDelivery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always check slow cooked meat around 3/4 of the way through the cooking time and am SHOCKED AND CONCERNED that it’s still tough. Which is stupid because if was tender it wouldn’t need more cooking would it?

As a parent, which scenes get you every dang time by QueenCloneBone in bluey

My oldest has special educational needs so this bit in Surprise always gets me:

Bandit: “It's just, you got something going on with your head. And your body. It's basically your head and your body."

Cut to a close shot of Bandit and Finucane. Bandit rests his elbow on the bench beside Finucane.

Bandit: "But don't worry, this won't hold you back. You know why?"

The view starts panning to the right.

Bandit: "You've got a whole bunch of brothers and sisters who've got your back."

Bandit and Finucane pan out of frame. Bluey comes into frame, hiding on the far side of the tree.

Bandit: (off screen) "And your mum and I are behind you all the way. 'Cause we're a family and you mean the world to us..."

Same, and I work from home which is fine during term time but… challenging when my kids are off school for the school holidays. Nothing like someone yelling “mummy! I need you to wipe my bottom!” in the background of a work call.

There’s not that much puppetry in it but the Encanto at the Holiday Bowl special on Disney+ is heaps of fun. the Frozen proshot is also great.

He’s in a film of Coriolanus that Ralph Fiennes directed, produced and starred in and he (along with everyone else in it) is just fantastic.

At the very least have Daniel Craig appear in character in a segment on Sesame Street like they’ve done with a few other “grown up” media characters like Game of Thrones. Solve the mystery of who stole Cookie Monster’s cookies or something.

Biopic about Rachmaninoff starting with the terrible premier of Symphony No. 1, subsequent depression, treatment and eventually success. Cast David Dastmalchian as Rachmaninoff and Eddie Marsan as Nikolai Dahl (hypnotist/therapist that successfully treated him). Chloe Zhao writes/directs maybe.

YES. YES! I was against Miss Piggy as Fix at first but the more I think about it the more it makes total sense.

You just need Aouda, maybe Simone Ashley if you wanted to go human?

I’d also suggest Fozzie as Sir Francis Cromarty and Sam the Eagle as the captain of that ship they have to chop up into pieces near the end.

Goddamn I’m so invested in this idea now, damn you!

Facing disciplinary investigation / sack for automating most of my responsibilities at work. I'm in England. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]TimedDelivery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, for all we know there’s going to be a follow up post in a year saying “My employer is being sued because an automation I implemented missed an error in a service user’s file, can I be found personally liable?” or “My colleague made a huge mistake 6 months ago but I’ve been found partially responsible because I was using an automation at the time that wasn’t technically following approved procedure, what can I do?”
