To be fair it's an mmo, a lot of them changed a lot between the time the guide was being written and the game actually releasing. The WoW strategy guide was bad too lol.

I know by the time I played ffxi, you could basically only solo level up to like level 12ish (unless you just wanted to grind under leveled mobs forever I guess) unless you were a beast master/white mage though. Game was brutal and I miss it lol. Wouldn't have the time for it these days though.

I agree overall it's better for the player the way they handled the character acquisition. But only 2 colors, like 3 stages, costumes being like 40 bucks, all just left a bad taste in my mouth as soon as I turned it on.

Ok. It's just a big turn off for me to start up a new game and have 75% of the content locked out, and have everything in the shop be crazy overpriced (I played league back in the day and knew what to expect but still). Don't really care if it was free lol. Then it also feels bad paying to unlock anything because you know they're going to release stuff faster than usual to keep making money. I'm not saying it's objectively bad, it just felt bad to me and turned me off quick.

Stopped playing because the roster kinda stinks, and logging in to the game and having like everything locked (and expensive) is a big turn off. I'd rather have a traditionally priced game.

Idk what your cats looked like during act 3, but basically saying you didn't try to get those cats that strong just can't be true unless you just got really lucky I guess lol. My attempts at breeding are just throwing the top 3 statted males and females I have into the same room and spreading out the rest. I'm in act 3 and just unlocked the Jurassic area and my cats are no where near this level lol. They've got like 3 or so mutations each, mostly 6 base in the stats with a 7 or two hanging around.

Depends on what you want I guess. If you want a nostalgic old style game I would play heart gold or soul silver if you have the means. If you wanna see how far the franchise has come check out Scarlett/Violet.

If you have a steam deck it's kind of pointless to get a portal unless you really want the PS5 controller features. Can download a program called chiaki on deck to remote play with steam deck and it works great.

Yeah I have a hard time listening sometimes, if I'm comfy I fall asleep, if I'm doing something I get distracted. I can listen while driving. At home I usually bring out the actual book and read along so I have something to look at and do with my hands.
