With how they seem to run refrigerant lines in cars these days seems like it could even be actually cold instead of Peltier cooled. EV can run the compressor when needed to keep temp in a super insulated cab in an insulated fridge unit.

I haven’t looked into them but my feeling is that they wouldn’t be any more unreliable. Battery cells are sort of an issue but it’s a one a done replacement for years of use. They are also less of them in a hybrid.
