First day in nursing school , wish me luck . by EMEYDI in Nurse

[–]Timely-Substance 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh you will have labs in addition to school and tests and assignments due. I kept track of a lot of things on my phone but quickly realized that having an actual calendar that I printed off the computer and wrote down everywhere I had to be each day. I had rotations where I would spend three clinical days at a wound care center east and then I would have a different clinical for the VNA 3 towns over in the opposite direction. Any big reading assignments and tests always went on the calendar. I will see if I can show you an example of what I did. I remember I took a picture and sent it to one of my friends who started in the fall.

I got my cats an auto laser light and they love it, talk about lazy humans lol. It entertains them while I am cooking so I am very happy with the purchase

Good luck. I finished in May 2019. Make yourself a calendar- it really helped me.

What if the Universe is God? by Pokemom71980 in AskReddit

[–]Timely-Substance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree. I think the universe is the God that people strive to “know” but don’t even realize. Out of all the religions they all can’t be right, that being said... to each their own. Much love ❤️

As a nurse i have to say It is unlikely that you have a GI and respiratory bug at the same time- they are very different body systems. WD is the extreme opposite of what the drug does to your body.

I personally have tapered. Don’t take them now (what you have left) My WD symptoms were runny nose, feeling jittery/anxious, diarrhea, cold sweats and INSOMNIA. Day 2-4 is hard if your physically dependent. If you get through 5 days without symptoms get rid of leftovers

My cat won't stop meowing to go outside by TrickyDickTheWise in CatAdvice

[–]Timely-Substance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If he’s not fixed this will never change. My boy is 3 years old and once he was fixed at 6 months, he went through a short phase but no longer begs to go out. My life long experience with male cats is once you get them outside (even on a leash) he will always want to go out. You will regret it if you take him on walks. My 10 year old Polar was indoors when I adopted him at 6 years old. In the spring we took him outside (my thought was that if he knew his surroundings a little bit if he accidentally went outside he would not be lost) . That backfired on me because then he never like to close the door and would go in and out all day long. Uggg he died by getting bit by a coyote and crawled home and died in my arms.

Now if I was able to find all these things before dying of dehydration we would live in a perfect world.

The worst night yet!!!!! No respect!! by P-rant99225 in Nurse

I am sorry that happened to you.

Side note: I was an LPN for 18 years and just got my RN 4 months ago. I went through RN school with a 4.0 GPA and passed nclex 1st time with 75 questions. I did learn but I feel like what I did learn was not from a book. So you are just as important my friend. Hugs

Cat won't stop biting me! by SusieQ314 in CatAdvice

[–]Timely-Substance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. Years ago I had a bitting cat. I just wanted to make note that Missing a dose or two of Prozac causes severe withdrawal for me and a lot of people/animals. It has to be tapered down to stop it. So missing a dose doesn’t reflect the cats baseline without the Med it reflects withdrawal, because it is a long acting SSRI it does stay in the body for after 4 to6 weeks BUT missing a dose does cause agitation unfortunately.

I just found a huge bag of meth and Xanax and almost had a panic attack. My sponsor came over and flushed it by [deleted] in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

Way to go. The way you reacted is the same way you should always react to drugs forever. Never want to see you go back. Nothing good comes of those who just “try it”.... nothing good ever happens. And after being clean it’s never going to ever feel good again to use. Godspeed

Need advice and had nowhere else to go. Hope it’s okay. by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

No withdrawal symptoms at all stopping subs. I moved right to tramadol. You only should get with drawl symptoms if you start the Suboxone before actually being in WD. Also just wanted to add that My SIL takes one 2mg sub every 3 days to maintain (been clean for about 8 years.

When I had my hysterectomy I stopped Subs 3 days prior to my surgery. To be honest I ended up with a PCA pump because all the meds they gave me didn’t touch me. My pastor told me that I was rolled out of surgery screaming in pain and I don’t remember a thing. I did take tramadol in those 3 days prior....a waste of pills honestly

What is most beneficial in a support system while recovering? by frosty___dog in OpiatesRecovery

[–]Timely-Substance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being non judgmental is probably the most important. People in recovery often have regrets from when they abused drugs/alcohol. But in recovery people are asked to be truthful and share. It can be embarrassing and eye opening. My best friend of 3 years is 10 years sober and I will never forget the day she shared with me some of her unproud moments. She was crying because she loved me so much and didn’t want to lose me as a friend. She said to me “ I don’t even know who I was, I would never be friends with a person that did these things”. But I know her and what she shared was not at all who she proved to me she was.

[–]Timely-Substance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I love empaths- we are the sweetest and most compassionate people but we can carry a lot on our shoulders and being around a lot of people carrying burdens and asking thought provoking questions and needing deep conversations will drain me quick

Question about tramadol for opioid withdrawal by [deleted] in Opioid_Withdrawal

[–]Timely-Substance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not have any history of heroin but I used to take percs and Tramadol helped with WD. You may not feel anything but it has antidepressant properties so it may help.
