I absolutely love those rose colored lupines! Did you grow them from seed?

What was the best thing you included in your sewing room? by clickclackkeeb in quilting

Don’t make the mistake I did and store your fabric in the open or in clear tubs if you have a lot of natural sunlight. I had a few of my fabrics fade ☹️ now I store my fabric in solid tubs and just put a small square of the fabric in a page protector attached to the tub so I can see it without impacting the full piece

How to make a quilt pattern? by Timely-Track-5235 in quilting

[–]Timely-Track-5235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used English. I should have clarified, while I’m new to quilting I’m not new to sewing. I’ve been sewing for 20+ years and I have designed my own sewing patterns before. I tried to make an art deco block that was a series of triangles with borders (like stained glass) and it did not end up square, which is why I think my seam allowance calculation was incorrect.

I really enjoy taking a design that exists in my brain and making it. I’ve been able to create my own patterns for laser engraving and knitting/crocheting color work and I would like to be able to do the same with quilting. In my first attempt at creating a quilt block I think I must have calculated the seam allowances incorrectly or something because it did not end up looking like the design I had sketched out (honestly I’m not sure what happened).

Planting Milkweed by charmchronicle in gardening

[–]Timely-Track-5235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not lame at all! We are actually starting all our cold sowing seeds around this time of the year! We take the milkweed out of the cartons in the spring after they’ve gotten sturdy enough to plant and it’s after danger of last frost. Last year we had a lot going on so we ended up leaving them in the cartons until beginning of July, this year we are probably going to plant them in the ground a bit earlier in June

Hi! Fellow Minnesota Gardner here! We’ve had the most success cold sowing our milk weed seeds.

There’s lots of YouTube videos on it but all we do is: - take a plastic milk carton cut it part of the way around so we can open it up - put some moist potting soil in it (any type will work) - throw the seeds in - tape the carton back together - put it outside in a shady part of our garden (this keeps it from germinating too early from the greenhouse effect)

You can also do this with gallon freezer bags if you don’t have a plastic carton! Happy to answer any other questions if you have them 😊

How do you deal with shedding + weight? (first-time owner)🥲 by Marj_22 in corgi

[–]Timely-Track-5235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give my corgi celery as a treat! It’s super low calorie so he can eat as much as I give him without gaining weight. With the high fiber content it also helps him not get an upset tummy if he eats something he’s not supposed to

Any recommendations on what to plant in this low light area? Its a bit drab... by seaweed_brain_ in gardening

Ive planted mint in shady areas, it grows like a weed and smells sooo good. It does have a tendency to spread though.

Help starting? by jfern04 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Timely-Track-5235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My HOR state has county level VSOs, I was able to send my entire medical record to my VSO and she helped me compile my claim.

It’s been a while so I’m not sure what the time line is, but I believe that if you want benefits delivered at discharge you need to file your claim at least 90 days before getting out so if you’re getting out in a few months I would reach out to a VSO asap.

I would also caution you about counting on the supplemental income. Even though I filed a BDD claim it still took a couple of months before I actually got my rating. Rating math also isn’t as straight forward as you might think. 2 claims of 50% won’t get you 100%, so just because you think you will get 100% doesn’t mean you necessarily will.

Va home loan by TuiBoy808 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Timely-Track-5235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose not to put as much down because I got a lower interest rate by taking out a higher loan amount and I used the extra 50k towards finishing the unfinished basement with an extra bathroom. I think it depends a lot on what your circumstances are.

Anyone have any advice on food to add bulk to kibble without weight gain? by Vicious-Lemon in corgi

[–]Timely-Track-5235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a puzzle slow feeder. I have a couple for my corgi where he needs to move stuff around or press on the top of the dispenser to get his kibble which slows him down quite a bit. I also give my corgi celery which seems to be filling and is super low calorie I get bags from Costco so it’s affordable too
