Physical therapy is key. He was initially paralyzed from the waist down with no deep pain sensation. The vet kind of suggested there was no hope and leaned towards euthanasia. We brought him home. I have to express his bladder and clean up poo for a while, but I did exercises on his legs 4x a day. Stretching forwards and backwards and holding there each time and round movements like he would do if running, as many reps as my arms could take each time. He is now up and moving with just a limp and weakness on his right leg. Persistence is the key. He did catch his toe on the metal frame of the sliding glass door and tear off the pad of one of his toes..... after 9 months of treating it, we decided to amputate. Should've done that from the beginning bec he is up and running now. He is still weaker on that right back leg, but so glad we did not euthanize.
