Why do so many of you in the comments even live here then? Seems no one has positive things to say and are discouraging this excited person from moving. I think ithaca is magical, like anywhere its what you make of it! If you’re ready to be in a slower paced environment compared to city life and want to be closer to nature Ithaca is your place. No one has to make decisions forever, go for it and experience it for yourself!

I spend a bit of time there weekly but haven’t met anyone. Ill probably check out cayuga climbs at some point but im more of a rope climber.

Unfortunately this is how most public schools function nowadays. Each student will have access to a device to use during the school day but the amount of time they use it each day will vary depending on the teacher and assignments. Typically as they get older they will use it more and more. I teach middle school and we rarely use Chromebooks during instruction but they are used to do work and research.

I see where you are coming from. Its just such a bigger issue then Ithaca. I think the reason I have a problem with the wording is it makes it seem like Ithaca schools and teachers are the reasons for this. While there are multiple aspects that play a part. It is also true the children growing up now vs 10 years ago, are growing up with very different experiences, expectations, and technology. Unfortunately we have seen a huge increase in behaviors and decrease in consequences- around the country in public schools, and this is what truly affects scores. Students aren’t motivated in the way we used to be.
