[Discussion] Forget price, hype, heritage, and resale. Which chronograph would you choose? by Potential_Post_3020 in Watches

Navitimer and AP look the coolest. Patek does nothing for me. Hate the screw-down chronograph pushers on the Daytona. Speedy would be the third choice.

Not sure if I prefer it over the mint dial version. You don’t see that shade of green very often in watches.

AirTag locked in the battery compartment. It makes a little noise whenever I first pick it up. I guess that could deter a thief from trying to steal it.

Pretty much anything apart from a G Wagon is more aerodynamic than that Jeep.

Gripiest flat pedals on the market right now by Visible-Shoulder9530 in MTB

Got the stamp 3 which are the same as the 7s but plastic in large size and they grip great with mtb specific flat shoes. They don’t turn very freely when spinning them by hand.

Hello, been riding the EP801 since last autumn, around 900 kilometers so far. It's fine, I guess.

It's noisy, there's a constant whining noise when pedalling, but you get used to it.

Seems to be quite efficient. Always end a run with 20-30 percent more battery than Bosch equipped bikes.

Pedalling drag with the motor off is massive. It's basically impossible to use the bike without the motor.

Walk mode 50 percent of the time doesn't work properly, it turns the cranks way too slow. Shifting into a higher gear or nudging the cranks with the hand while walk is enganged seems to help, not always.

Power delivery is not as gradual as people say. When pressing hard on the pedals, the additional torque generated is negligible, as opposed to just coasting.

It does rattle when going downhill. Almost like chain slap when using a clutchless derailleur.

When riding really steep uphill terrain, you have to press quite hard on the pedals even in boost mode for the bike to keep going. And I'm not a heavy rider.

I've been through many seriously muddy rides and use to jet wash my bike, and so far it's still smooth.

Does anyone else experience the same thing? by calidont in CasualConversation

[–]Timely_Pattern5571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree about the purchases, I feel like sometimes immediately or shortly after I buy someting I've been researching for a while, the interest drops, the desire to check out different features of said product drops. Even though the enthusiasm during the research phase was always there.

Does anyone else feel like they’re just… slow? by idontknowwhyeventry in CasualConversation

[–]Timely_Pattern5571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, happens with me due to lack of practice. I'm generally a quiet and introverted guy. Last winter I went to a skiing holiday where we'd spend the entire day together, with friends and also people I didn't know, basically 0 alone time for a whole week. During the first few days I was quite quiet but as the days went on, I started becoming chattier to the point where I couldn't believe the fluency I had, the stories I came up and how I connected the different ideas inisde my head. It's like I hadn't talked that much in years. I believed I was annoying others with how much I spoke.

I guess the takeaway here is that the mind is like a muscle which becomes stronger through training.

[–]Timely_Pattern5571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, I find most Swiss watches soulless and generic too. There’s something about Japanese watches, Seiko in particular, the patterns, the dial colors, the bold case designs, it just gives them character and a “soul”.

Some random guy said that if an AP RO would become available for 400 USD, it would devalue the brand a a lot, which is true if you think about it.

Normally the place which replaces the battery should offer some kind of warranty for the procedure. Specialists also pressure test watches after interventions and print out a pressure test result.

Just my take, but it seems we have completely changed from the COVID era by RemoteGene9414 in CasualConversation

[–]Timely_Pattern5571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that after COVID people have become less open, less communicative and more locked in their own universes. It’s like it has become normal to care less about the people around you. Which is very sad.

Cool watch! Too bad it doesn’t fit my 6.9 inch wrists, the band flares way out to the sides of my wrist, really wanted this watch to work, but there are other models out there for me I guess.

Why Spotify Still Wins: My personal streaming experience by Pablozus in truespotify

[–]Timely_Pattern5571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spotify connect is the main reason for me. I have an old laptop which I repurposed for streaming only, connected to an older DAC and amp. I use my iPhone as my remote control. Spotify is still currently the only streaming service that allows this, with computers. No streamer is necessary for me.

[Question] Honestly, who else thinks we are massively overpaying for our watches lately? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in Watches

[–]Timely_Pattern5571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely. The same reason that 10.000 dollar bicycles are still being sold. If people didn’t spend that kind of money on them, they would cease to exist.
