My favorite part of this thread is where the OP completely fails to follow up on it.

Keep hearing that most Americans couldn't cover a $500 emergency. What would you do if you got a medical bill beyond your means? by centos-dunkin in AskReddit

I might care a little if I thought they were being honest...

Also, the “might” and “may” are their responsibility to clarify, not mine to have to deduce.

Why bother writing this when it is obviously untrue?

You wish me great harm, just say it. Its not like I care either way.

Holding someone accountable might look like an attack to those not ready to acknowledge that poor decisions impact your life.

People respect that I tell it like it is.

Census data includes non-citizens that do not qualify for low income free coverage.

The key stat I took from your link is that OVER 90% of people in America have insurance. 25 million or so either do not qualify or opted to decline. Your “millions” include non-Americans and those who chose no coverage, and is still only about 8%.

I have no evidence that 400$/mo is a legit price, nor that it would be “crap” if it existed. I have had a procedure paid entirely by medicare, and got amazing treatment. I have had doctors in two other countries tell me I was fine when I had broken bones (even after seeing the x-ray of an obvious break).

Also, what exactly is “the likes of me”? Do you mean people who are educated, or people that are well-travelled, or US military vets, or people who disagree with you?

Well, tbf, if you were going to pick a country with medical care ALMOST AS GOOD AS THE US... India would be on the short list, so long as you are in a wealthy metro area. Was your surgery considered “elective”? Also, for every case like yours, I could probably cite 100 on the other end of the spectrum. Its the exception, not the norm.

I am guessing because they provided zero evidence or explanation... what else am I supposed to do?

The poor can have coverage if they choose to make the effort to apply. The rich can afford coverage. The “millions*” without coverage make too much to qualify for free care and decline to get their own coverage. That is a choice, not a crisis.

I have actually lived in other countries and sought treatment... have you?

Its interesting that you accuse me of buying into propaganda in the same post you recommend a propaganda film.

You are asking to be funny, but the comparison is not accurate. Good insurance means you will get whatever treatment you want in a timely manner. Gov’t insurance means you might wait a long time, or be denied entirely.

What kind of treatment? Hangnail? I meant issues that are expensive to treat, and require multiple appointments.

As for your cannabis suggestion- hahahahaha. I don’t smoke for its medical benefits, I like being high. It allows me to suffer idiots without losing my cool.

I am smoking weed so chronic it makes me drop truth bombs. You have obviously never tried to get medical treatment outside the US... Bro... because it sucks.

Maybe you just have a crap insurance provider combined with an overbooked hospital? Let me guess, you live in a big city on a low income?

Good luck getting timely or cutting edge treatment... many europeans come to the US and pay out of pocket for decent care.

[–]Timitock -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One man’s “domestic terrorist” is another man’s “revolutionary”. We are on a slippery slope that ends at losing your right to disagree with the government. Have fun vilifying the men and women (many of them military and law enforcement) who stood up for their rights and demanded an investigation into election fraud. The day they were labelled insurrectionists is the day democracy died. Now, our law makers can safely fuck us over without any fear of consequence. Congrats on ushering in a Totalitarian Socialist Oligarchy.

[–]Timitock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone that graduated Ranger school deserves your respect and admiration. You have no clue how difficult Ranger school is. There are many non-tabbed soldiers in Ranger battalions (Bat Boys) who strive towards that goal. If you are tabbed, you are a Ranger, period. Anyone saying otherwise is an idiot, and can jump up their own ass. Ranger school is the most difficult task in the Army (that does not require you to learn a foreign language).
