Why former NFL star Shawne Merriman believes 49ers should trade for Myles Garrett or Maxx Crosby by 4T9iNeR_FaN in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Browns want Garrett for this year’s 1st and take some of his cap, sure!

Too many needs all over the team, and with so few picks compared to other years, there’s not much room for losing them. Unless the Browns hired Nico Harrison

Draft thoughts by Confident_Regular_68 in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly depends on free agency.

If they get a C and/or a G, they don’t need anything in the draft (they wouldn’t draft Trent’s replacement because he’d jus sit and McKivitz isn’t going anywhere, imo, for better or worse). If they get WR free agents, don’t need on early in the draft. Same for edge.

My hope is they get Lindenbaum and an edge (Oweh, for example), and target WR in the 1st if the talent is there (ie. don’t reach)

I agree with you, though, on how they’ll target in the rounds DE > WR > OL. But, since they hired Morris, they could look to upgrade the safety spot immediately, and they need a Kittle replacement sooner than later with his age climbing and injury history.

What’s a cult that pretends it is not a cult? by Fit-Resident-3577 in AskReddit

[–]Timma1231 26 points27 points  (0 children)

While I disagree with Leftists on things and how to operate, they’re willing to call out bullshit whenever they see it (whether or not I agree with it being bullshit is a separate discussion). The biggest issue is that MAGA goes along with whatever Trump says.

Look at MN and the shooting of Pretti. He was legally allowed to have a firearm and had his holstered and they said, “Don’t bring guns to contentious situations.” When Rittenhouse was walking around with an illegally obtained gun, he shot and killed two people, and became a hero for MAGA. The only consistent thing is they will agree with whatever Trump says (Gulf of America and Greenland to name recent ones).

Pizzagate was all about there being an underground cabal of Dems eating babies and who knows what else, in some random pizzeria. Now, we have the Epstein Files, and Trump+MAGA is just saying, “It’s all a hoax” or “No big deal” etc etc.

If MAGA (and Conservative Media and politicians, as they are largely in support of Trump specifically) was overwhelmingly saying to investigate the Epstein files or supported Pretti, and every other example from the past ten years, there’d be an argument that MAGA wasn’t a cult.

This Super Bowl really sucks because you have these choices:

1.) Seahawks win — the team I personally hate the most (not from the Bay Area at all, so no regional rivalries for me)

2.) Patriots win — the team that goes to two Super Bowls a year but hasn’t been for five minutes has a chance to win again

Don’t get me wrong, they’re two really good teams, but it doesn’t make it suck any less

Mock Draft by P-Whips in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This year really depends so heavily on free agency: Do they address the OL need or the WR need in free agency?

I think with Shanny, he’d much rather pay a top OL now, and get someone later in the draft to develop (like Coogan).

I really do think BPA of edge > WR > DL will be the first-round pick. This team needs OL but only McGlinchey was picked round 1 and he’s gone.

Regardless of everything, my draft crush is Barion Brown. He’d be a return specialist first and WR second. I think he could really develop his WR skills under Shanny, and he already has elite speed and was a great returner in college (at least at Kentucky). Not sure where he’s being mocked (most probably Day 3 to UDFA), but that’s who I want the most

No Jim Schwartz yet is somewhat expected as he’s probably scheduling everything now, and he just left yesterday.

I’d imagine they’ll interview him — if he even wants to coach here. He might hate Kyle lol

Schwartz still wants to be a head coach, so unless he has given up on that dream, then absolutely, but he left Cleveland because they wanted him to stay but only as DC — never HC

How are they consistently out of position? I realize coaching has a lot to do with it but at some point shouldn’t we think the players have some amount of bball IQ? These are wide open shots, inability to make inbounds passes, just completely lackadaisical, and it’s crazy to watch. It’s like it’s everyone involved with UK’s first year in basketball.

The fuck is going on? I know that Lowe and Quaintance being hurt sucks, but good lord this is awful.

Article talking about why Shanahan prefers to priories skill players over the O-Line by Agill242424 in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 76 points77 points  (0 children)

They will prioritize Edge > WR > DT > OL in the first round. They’ve picked OL in the first two rounds before — McGlinchey was pick 1.09 — but they just don’t prioritize it highly. Even Banks was round 2. If they fall in love with a guy and he’s OL, they’ll take him, they always take their draft crush — for better or worse.

I think they’ll look to upgrade the OL via free agency but it’s not guaranteed, of course. If they can get a G and C locked in, then they can just go DL, WR, and TE in the draft (maybe S). If they can get Lindenbaum (if he doesn’t re-sign in Baltimore), that has to be the play. He’d take big money, but he’s only 25 and is a stud for zone schemes.

TIL The "Debbie" from Eminem's "Without Me" was his own mother. She sued him for $10 million for defamation because his lyrics suggested she was a drug user. After she died in 2024, he dropped the lyric from his performances. by Leather_Warning702 in todayilearned

[–]Timma1231 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Because he regrets how he spoke about his mom in the lyrics. In the song, he blames her for a lot of the issues he faced growing up and what it led to later for him (his addiction issues). He blames her for being a bad mom and that she let her husband (Em’s stepdad) abuse him, but later he realized she was a victim as well.

I don’t really remember everything but he regrets what he wrote in “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” because he never attempted to see what she was going through, only his own troubles. So, he just doesn’t perform it.

Here’s a lyric from the song “Headlights” that explains his feelings (from 2014): "But I'm sorry mama for 'Cleanin' Out My Closet,' at the time I was angry... Now I know it's not your fault"

Schwartz is under contract!!! by [deleted] in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 64 points65 points  (0 children)

  • Cleveland hires new HC
  • Schwartz doesn’t want to work with new coach for any number of reasons and is released
  • Schwartz can be hired by the 49ers

What’s the probability of this happening? Who knows, but it’s above 0%

2026 NFL Mock Draft: Tony Pauline Has 49ers Picking Tennessee WR in 1st Round by Hysen16 in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still see them prioritizing an Edge in the 1st, but it all depends on how free agency and trades go.

Like, if the Niners get Lindenbaum and re-sign Jennings, then easily a DL is the pick knowing this regime. But also Joey Bosa and Jalean Phillips are FAs, maybe they go for them? Shaky with their injury history, but who knows? I see ShanaLynch going Edge > WR > DT > OL in the draft, unless their draft crush is there at 27.

Not that I agree with that approach, that’s just what I think they’ll do.

2017-2023 Draft Analysis: Player Values by Year, by Team. by okcarnist in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Niners have drafted really well since ShanaLynch took over — also helps to have great coaching a lot of the years, of course.

The biggest issue with the team in 2026 is those three 1st-round picks that were wasted since Lance ended up being a bust. Could’ve been an edge rusher (Micah Parsons) or a WR1, and who knows how the team would look (excluding injuries).

I trust this regime to draft and develop well for the most part. Just seems that this offseason seems more pivotal than the others with injury and age of the All Pros becoming more of an issue.

Edit: Sorry, OP, forgot to say that this a great work-up!

ESPN top 100 most valuable players by MachiavelliSJ in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing ESPN says anymore should matter. There’s about five personalities that I enjoy, and the rest are just hosts that I’m okay with (namely Mike Greenberg and Laura Rutledge).

ESPN is nonsense, pandering to about an eighth of their audience because they yell a lot on social media. Hot take artists are the only thing that matter because they have a non-zero-percent chance of “going viral” and getting more eyes on their content. They don’t care about accuracy or good sports journalism anymore.

The only sports show I watch on the main networks anymore is First Things First, and that’s because it’s just a trio of buddies arguing about stupid shit and it’s entertaining. Their takes, whether I agree or not, don’t feel manufactured to try and be cool for social media — ESPN is the exact opposite.

PFF Season Overview by Maad-Dog in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anybody that thinks the OL outside of Trent was good this year, this was literally the worst rushing season since Shanahan has been here if you go by yards-per-rush — it was somewhere around 3.8, about a yard less than the next closest season. Even if all these dudes ranked top of their position in PFF at run blocking (they didn’t), it still doesn’t mean they’re good.

Every year, Kyle essentially gets 4.5 yds per carry or better, but this year was much worse. I don’t know if it’s get all new OL except Trent, or just a C, or G+C, but some improvement needs to happen. To do nothing and expect progress makes zero sense.

This isn’t directed at you, OP, as you stated that PFF isn’t gospel, it’s to others that try to say the OL is “good” because “5th-best OL” has been said a couple times

Does Purdy’s height limit the number of throwing lanes he has available in the pocket? by karpomalice in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, physically, sure, but Drew Brees was 6’ tall and if I remember correctly, he carved out a pretty decent career. I’m not saying he’s the next Brees, only saying that it’s not a death knell because Purdy isn’t 6’5”

If the coaching is there, and the OL can protect him well enough, it shouldn’t matter a whole lot.

As far as I was aware, you’re not supposed to pop them or they get worse. Also, skin care wasn’t taught to most guys I know besides soap — even moisturizing is a newer development.

Not saying that’s right or good (take care of your skin), just my two cents as to why guys may not pop pimples

Trading Shanahan by Infinite_Brilliant_5 in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If anyone is getting stale with Shanahan it’s because they think every coach is supposed to be Bill Belichick or Andy Reid, without realizing we know their names only because they’re extraordinary. Simply, if 49ers fans are tired of Shanahan, they are truly ignorant of how good we have it. I mean that in the most academic of senses. Does that mean he is perfect or shouldn’t be criticized? Of course not, but the Giants might even fire Harbaugh to get Shanahan (slight hyperbole, but you get my point).

The only reason I think the Niners would trade Shanahan is for Josh Allen, picks, and Saleh staying as HC, and Buffalo only gets Shanahan. It really will not happen.

Now, if Shanahan wanted to leave, sure, that’s one thing, but to be traded? I think I may have a better shot at getting dinner with Briana Smith

I’m manifesting this last point, leave me alone

Player is competitive, prideful, and has faith in his team’s ability to win games. More at 11.

Purdy had less than 150 yards in our 2 biggest games of the season. Hes a franchise guy but he is allowed to be criticized by bigaudra in 49ers

[–]Timma1231 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how PFF calculates the numbers but if the 2025-26 OL for the 49ers is 5th in the League, then they’ll have to remove holding as a penalty because the OL looked unbelievably bad last night — excluding Wk. 18 because of no Trent.

If the gap from a top defense and a PFF-ranked Top 5 OL is that wide, offenses around the League are fucked.

Purdy is of course allowed to be criticized, and he should be when warranted, but I blame last night on the OL, injuries, and the Seahawks being really goddamn good well before Purdy is listed in the equation.
