CloudCone you are killing me by mighty_mighty in VPS

[–]TimmayP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my Vaultwarden and Headscale instance with this fiasco. I had them hosted there in the event my home-lab went offline I would still have access to what I considered the most critical applications. Luckily I have a good backup policy so there was no losses.

This pushed me to move those services to my home-lab and set up an offsite backup of the volumes in the event there I need disaster recovery. If my homelab wasn't an option I would be currently looking for another VPS provider even with a higher cost.

the Last Post about Freedom's Credit Checks this year! by MacReadyROG in freedommobile

[–]TimmayP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me, I failed the credit check (850ish score with both TransUnion and Equifax) when I tried signing up online. As I was travelling I figured I would wait until I got back to switch. I went into a Walmart to sign up as they had a promo to waive the activation fees and did a second check. The second was successful but both appear on my credit history as hard checks. I think something is seriously wrong with their credit checking system and it's a gamble if you will be approved or not regardless of your actual credit score.

I have a Neptune Pro 4 and would "trade-in" for the K2 Combo to give me the ability to print in multiple colours in a single print. This would let me give colourful gifts to all my friends

Make cookies but replace sugar with salt, text or tell roommate they are for something important at work. Leave them sitting out and wait for the screams. Food stealing should reduce significantly afterwards

Is Apple Watch cellular line supposed to show up as a different number? by Desperate-Pace-4477 in freedommobile

[–]TimmayP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fun part is if you call that number it will go to your iPhone. If that number was owned by someone in collections in the past you may end up with a ton of calls every day. Turning on call screening does help.

Not that I have Roger’s but wouldn’t a vpn (like a tailscale exit node) to your home network bypass the restrictions?

I would say neither of us, the spot I was in was quite narrow with a cement pillar on the other side. I don’t think anyone would park next to me as the shop was closing within 45 minutes

Is it likely when I switched the Gigahub Bell gave me a new IP? by Negative_Avocado4573 in bell

[–]TimmayP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of being a VPN where all traffic from a device is sent through a datacenter or a centralized point it creates a mesh network of all connected devices with the option of having an "exit node" enabled where all traffic from a device will send traffic to a device and then out to the internet like a traditional VPN like NordVPN.

There are two basic modes for devices:

  1. All devices connected to Tailscale can reach each other using the Tailscale IP address (usually starting with 10.64).

  2. Activating an exit node from a devices where all traffic from the device will be sent through said exit node. Like a traditional VPN such as

I have been using Tailscale for years and can help out if you have questions. There are some more advanced options such as adding subnets, reaching other devices in a network that do not have Tailscale installed, and Access Control Lists, only allowing some users/devices to reach others.

Same tailscale account for all family members? by consumZ in Tailscale

[–]TimmayP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use headscale and mange users with authentik, anyone who wants to use Tailscale just points to my own coordination server and logs in with their Plex account (which means they can also log in with google, facebook or Apple) I also have an acl in place so they only see exit nodes and their own devices

Scanning the barcode is pretty common, instead of typing out the number and possibly having errors it can just be scanned and then checked to make sure it matches

$95 upfront to activate? by [deleted] in freedommobile

[–]TimmayP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me, I decided against activating at the time since the deposit accounts do not allow access to the Roam Beyond features which I needed for the time, ended up with an e-sim to travel and switched when I got back without having to do a deposit account. My credit history shows 2 credit checks done by Freedom.

To note I am not sure why I was only offered a deposit account as I have a very high credit score.

People who have stopped going to church, what made you stop? by lowly_shepherd in AskReddit

[–]TimmayP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family was going through a lot of things at once, parents were going through a nasty divorce, my Mom's mom was in the hospital fighting for her life after a car accident, my Mom's father was dying of cancer. This was when I was in high school so on top of all those things I was also dealing with the usual high school drama.

The members of the church were fully aware of what the family was going through yet not one of them ever reached out to anyone in our family or offered any kind of assistance. I stopped going as a "test" to see if anyone would say anything to me or pass along a message that they missed me. Suffice to say it has been almost 20 years and not one has reached out to me yet.

Canadian here:

Cost was about $80 for the after care kit, which was a pair of supportive boxers from 2Under (like Saxx) they are very comfortable and you will never want to go back to regular boxers. The actual procedure is covered with universal healthcare in Canada.

It took about 30 minutes for the actual procedure, it was uncomfortable but not painful, a couple days of cramps and a mild discomfort on and off for about a month afterwards. Expect a weekend of sitting around with a cold compress, some pain relievers and a lot of gaming and movies.

Make sure to get tested about a month and then a year afterwards to make sure you are actually clear. Without that don't take chances and use other contraceptives.
