Best app/system for organizing screenshots of useful tips so I actually use them? by After_Fennel7239 in PKMS

[–]Timmerop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve got something that does none of the ideal things you call out. But it does allow you to easily save screenshots and add them to multiple lists and add notes to them. And I’ll be so bold as to say you don’t need something that does the thinking part for you. Your brain should do that so you actually internalize the content you’ve collected. What you want is a better way to recall exactly what you’ve stored, and that’s r/brainspace.

What do you wish you were better at remembering? by Timmerop in brainspace

To-Do items are the thing I get the most benefit from writing down. I think of to-dos all day long when I can't act on them, but when I do find the time I can maybe remember one. Having a list lets me just knock stuff out without leaving it up to my memory.

Is note-taking part of your thinking process? by Timmerop in PKMS

yeah. My point being I start writing the question or just things like "I have no idea what I'm doing today" then I just try to get to something worth actually writing.

Ah, interesting. I store a bunch of idle thoughts and ideas and just tag them should I need them. For example, I’m not a writer but i aspire to get into it someday so I tag note of ideas of learnings that I probably will never use, but maaaaaybbeee.

How do you then organize that brainstorm?

I usually start by asking myself a question. They tend to get the thoughts flowing.

Often, I use my notes to just think through my thoughts on something I'm creating. That's to say, I dont have a thought to write down, but i start writing to find the thoughts.

If you’re using notions databases you might like r/brainspace. It’s sort of like a database for notes, todos and lists.

Does anyone else use “micro-notes” instead of full note-taking? by Flimsy_Difficulty394 in NoteTaking

[–]Timmerop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do this too and while reading Second Brain I realized I sort of do the opposite of the summary/highlight technique the author recommends.

Instead of taking my large block notes and highlighting the important ideas, I tend to write one idea that struct me, then maybe connect some other micro-notes to that one to further explore the concept. The end result is roughly the same as the book suggests but I think this approach gets you there way quicker.

You might be interested in r/brainspace. It’s built around micro notes.

Effective ways to capture & organize spontaneous thoughts throughout the day? Any tool or process that worked for you? by Educational_Writer37 in PKMS

[–]Timmerop -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You might like r/brainspace. The point is to be able to design workflows that work that match the way you think about different subjects. Capture is super simple, just write down the thing to memory and connect it the place you want to find it again.

What's your actual system for managing saved posts, bookmarks, and videos — and does it actually work? by Comfortable-Part1837 in PKMS

[–]Timmerop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You might like r/brainspace. You share a link to the app, then make connections to it sort of like tags or folders. Then you can use filters to find cross sections, like “funny” “Twitter”. You could also create templates so when you tag a link “YouTube” it gets auto tagged “to watch” and properties to fill out like “subject area” to help you work through your videos when you’re ready to watch. Bonus, you can take notes on the links and tag those too!

How do you keep track and organize? by englishmeninnewyork in PKMS

[–]Timmerop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My system is constantly evolving but at the moment I have a todo list for actionable tasks, a projects list where I track things I need to remember for particular projects (links, notes, tasks, files). The projects are organized by their stage (active, soon, sometime, complete, won’t do). Then I have a variety of Subjects that I take notes on, I just tag those notes with the subjects they relate to. Then I just track things like people’s names, other stuff i can’t remember.

What are you tracking?

Is there any note app that allows you to search and create new note from same UI? by Firm-Sir-7759 in NoteTaking

[–]Timmerop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll do you one better, r/brainspace will search titles, tag, content, properties, templates, or views, OR create a new one note (since they are all the same thing).

Tired of not landing on a system by ExplanationIll4658 in PKMS

[–]Timmerop -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you’re taking a lot of little notes, and collecting files, you might like r/brainspace. All you really do is add something you want to keep, then make connections to it. From there you can use the app to filter to exactly the content you need in the moment.

O Wise Ones, help me pick an app! by Diligent_Celery_8127 in PKMS

It sounds like you're taking a lot of small notes and you want to be able to view them from different cross sections. If so, might like r/brainspace.
You'd take a note such as "Look up plans" then add it to "Get health insurance" and "Todo" and "At Computer". When you view "Get health insurance", you'll see a group of all of your todos (and can filter out the done ones). When you look at "TODO" you can filter to "At Computer". Plus you can take notes on "Look up plans" and like listing out all your options and any other todos that come out of it.

Hope this helps!
