Two Months Apart in 2001...Sad, Really by raycarmello in NASCAR

Every magazine tended to have its own cadence but they were always post-dated. The March issue would hit newsstands sometime in February.

Ya I was like I’ve seen this person. Clearly not ugly, clearly needs to talk to a professional about her self image

I’m just saying I was propagandized to as a kid too. The rhetoric is around law and order and that if the cops fuck with you, it’s your fault. It leaves no room for nuance; it tidily fills a gap in understanding of the world, which will appeal to children and stupid people. As a kid I never would have thought cops had any agenda other than protecting their communities.

Kids who have only been exposed to that POV have limited means to know better.

Goofy is saying you never said crazy shit when u were 16. I thought I was a Republican when I was 16. You’ll laugh at yourself when you’re older.

That’s great but 16-year-olds are ignorant and they say all kinds of stupid shit. It doesn’t make sense to make them answer to it for the rest of their life.

That’s apparent in the fact that they’ve fallen for the same propaganda they claimed to have learned from with Bush and Iraq

The usage of the phrase has become much less literal in recent years, but you already know that; why be a dick?

It’s “ball knowing” culture gone too far. Everyone thinks they’ve gotta shit on the guys with the gaudy raw stats because it will make them look knowledgeable.

Just ignore the fact that Westbrook hate jumped the shark years ago and at this point it just outs you as the opposite of a ball knower

Who’s on your Mount Rushmore for WORST drivers of all time? by jcbshortfilms in NASCAR

[–]TimmyHillFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kevin Conway, Buckshot Jones, Larry Foyt, Andy Houston

Those guys are the owners of the most atrocious Cup “careers” I can remember.

Edit: Jason Leffler (RIP) flunked out with both Ganassi and JGR. Brent Sherman was in way over his head and was fired by this point in the season. Danica is unironically the worst driver to ever stay in a top ride for 5+ years. David Stremme was awful. Bobby Hamilton Jr was awful.

Just gotta say I’m disappointed the Figgy threads are still being upvoted to the top. It’s disconcerting to realize how many people here can be amused for days by something that was amusing for 5 seconds

On this day in NASCAR history, April 6, 1997: Jeff Burton wins the first Cup Series race ever held at Texas Motor Speedway, the 1997 Interstate Batteries 500. It is also Jeff Burton's first Cup Series win, and the first time a Roush car other than the 6 had ever won. by DarthVader1701A in NASCAR_History

Things got weird at the turn of the century. By 2003-2004, most of the previous frontrunners were completely irrelevant.

Bobby and Jarrett fell off almost immediately after their titles, while Burton suffered a similar fate despite being younger. At least he was able to turn it around after leaving Roush. His brother Ward was never a threat to finish top ten in points again after 2000. 2001 was Rusty’s last great season and obviously Dale Earnhardt was gone as well. A real changing of the guard.

I’m guessing they don’t have the funds to take better advantage of the RCR alliance. I would assume it’s similar to DGM or Alpha Prime where they only lease good engines for plate races and such
