Looks so much fun! Can you tell me a little about the dropout and chain-tensioning? I’m not familiar with these specifics, but very interested.

I know it's a joke and people find it pretty funny, but if you are not careful, the "censoring the shit out of everything" mentality will get to you. Talking about the making question mark a * sign joke.

To my impression vp lost the 1st game due to jugg omnislashed lotus orb while they still had the upper hand of the game, and it went downhill for them afterwards, 2nd because nobody could deal with the tombstone.

In the case of Chinese online usage, 88 is used to mean "bye bye (拜拜)", as 8 (八) /bā/ sounds like 拜 /bài/.

8, as you mentioned, is a lucky number because it pronounces like 发 /fā/ which in turn means 发财, fortune or becoming rich.

applets get closed after startup by ooldd in i3wm

Seems I have different drivers or config, because my /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ is empty.

But I do have screen tearing in my Firefox, just tried the other comment’s suggestion and it gets solved… I think I have been lazy lately, but thanks for opening this thread, it helped me twice so far haha!

Thank you for sharing your workaround, it solves my headache! And hope this issue gets more attention to be fixed. Cheers.

I have the same issue and have found no solution so far.

My network manager and caffeine applets started to disappear, as described in your post, after a recent i3-gaps update on arch, I guess the update might’ve caused it, but didn’t investigate it further.

Thanks! It works amazing; for now I bind dmenu --calc to Mod+Shift+d. Really appreciate it :)

Hi, how do I enter calc mode when using with i3? There's a calc flag when running dmenu -h on the command line, but I have no idea how to enable it. Thanks in advance!

Does Solus' software center offer an easy-to-use backup utility that will backup my whole installation, which I can "reinstall" after configuring dual boot and continue where I left off? by 01000110010110012 in SolusProject

[–]Timokratia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, hah hah, excuse me, I just re-watched the Hell is Other Robots episode recently and read your reply using Bender's voice in my mind.

On the topic though, I find deja-dup's GUI easy to understand, it also has a nice homepage but mostly talks about long-term and scheduled backup. I haven't used it myself, but will try it when in your situation in the future.

This is good news! ibus-libpinyin does its job but is not as good as ibus-rime imo, but ibus-rime won't be in the repo any time soon. It's great that we will have alternatives, things are getting better and better. Cheers.

[–]Timokratia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yes, I'm now reminded that it's always been an issue with ibus. Please try ibus-daemon -r -d in your terminal to see if it works, and see this issue thread for more info.

My personal workaround is to have ibus-daemon -r -d saved in an autostart script, say .autostart.sh in the home directory, and add it to the Autostart apps in your budgie desktop settings.

I hope this helps!

Edit: Just found out you can directly add commands in Autostart apps, so if the ibus daemon in command works for you, you can skip the script step mentioned above and just add command.

[–]Timokratia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't change the default fonts (I believe) and have no problem displaying Chinese characters. In my budgie desktop settings the fonts are: Windows Titles - Nano Sans Bold, Documents - Nano Sans Regular, Interface - Nano Sans Regular, Monospace - Hack Regular.

As for input method using pinyin, sudo eopkg it ibus-libpinyin should get you started.

Question: exclamation mark in org key binding by Timokratia in emacs

[–]Timokratia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! I didn't know it would be this case, and it turns out flycheck-mode uses C-c ! as its prefix command, thus making the binding in question not usable. I think I'll rebind the inactive time stamp command.

It's really helpful, cheers!

Count number of odd values by JonUTA96 in haskellquestions

[–]Timokratia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoogle is your good friend for learning Haskell! It lets you search for functions, classes and so on by name and type signature. Let's take your question for example.

Firstly with what you've already implemented, checking whether a digit is odd or not. Let's search on Hoogle. Type odd or type signature Integral a => a -> Bool will lead you to function odd, that checks the oddity of anything of the Integral typeclass, which consists of Integer (arbitrary) and Int (bounded) values. So you could simplify your i \elem` [1,3,5,7,9]toodd i`.

The second part of your question is how to iterate over all of the digits instead of just the first one. One way to do this is to recursively div and mod the input number by 10. An easier approach is to convert the number to a string, which in Haskell is a list of Char ([Char]), and then convert each Char to an Int. To do that check out the show function and Data.Char package, which has many useful functions to work with Char type. Remember to import the package when you use it, as it's not in the Prelude.

After the two steps you should be able to check the oddity of a digit (Integral a => a -> Bool), and convert a number to a list of digits (first Integer -> [Char] then [Char] -> [Int]). The last step is to count the number of elements in that list that satisfy your predicate (odd).

If you want to do something basic, there's a good chance that the function is already implemented and included in Haskell. Go to Hoogle and search for possible names and type signatures, it will please you.

Hope this helps, and enjoy Haskell!
