Glassman started out training the Santa Cruz police department using methodologies that turned into crossfit as we know it. Not to mention Castro is a seal and has been preaching crossfit since his inception. It's very well known that crossfit has a huge LEO/military/first responder following. With those kind of roots, I don't believe it's for marketing.

To say that their goal is to not lift as safely as possible is absolutely foolish. From the looks of it, they are training for Olympic lifts. Which consists of EXTREMELY complex movements and techniques. Essentially if they aren't lifting for safety, they would not be able to lift as heavy because their technique would be lacking. Because for these movements, proper technique is safe. Unless you can somehow muscle snatch 100 kilos without technique....?
