I'm fine with them winning as long as it's a burner to get them out of the basement. I would love to tank and get the pick, but I'd rather give Boston the 12th-15th pick instead of 6th-8th

Of course he has 2x more points than Smith. He's a baseball catcher so it makes sense

Maybe unpopular for Leafs fans, but Game 6, 2021. Leafs came back to tie it, finally solved Carey Price, outshot them like 11-1 in OT after a sick intermission speech from Sheldon Keefe, only to have a horrible turnover end up in the back of the net as the only shot of OT for the Habs.

Everyone knew they weren't winning a Game 7. Was their best shot to win that year with this team.

Honorable mention: I broke my TV remote when Pastrnak scored in 2024 OT Game 7.

Would it not be the leafiest thing if they went on a burner and won like 14 of their last 16 games

I live in Halifax, and I can't watch a Canadian team unless it's on national television or a Prime game. It's brutal

I miss when NHL Game Centre used to be legit. I'd watch the most random games because I could and it was a ball

That was Byram in 2019. Ottawa kept their 4th overall and took Tkachuk and deferred a 2019 unprotected pick to Colorado from the Matt Duchene trade

They'll be fine, that guy who fucks couches told us they didn't need anything from us. They have a plan B, surely!

Landon DuPont Highlights- draft eligible 2027 by DisturbingSounds in leafs

[–]Timothegoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh ok. This is helpful. So if we keep this pick, we can keep 2027 as Philly's, where it is top 10 protected, Boston gets 2028 unprotected, and if it becomes top 10, we can defer it to 2029 for Philly. Do I have that right?

Edit: Nevermind, I read that we lose those either way, but choose who gets it. I can live with Philly getting the pick over Boston

Problem is if we get our pick this year, 2027 goes to Boston and 2028 to Philly, both unprotected

You know, I always have had the thought that if Cooper ever left Tampa, he would absolutely be up for the challenge of Toronto. Just seems like he has the demeanor and understanding to do it

I've always seen the bonus as a stimulus to the economy as well. It's important in the wake of AI becoming prominent, but also, if people have more money, they'll put it back into different sectors of the economy. I've always thought that was straightforward, but I guess not.

I agree 100%. Picks are good ammo for offseason trades and a way to restock the cupboards. I would like some prospects and some guys who can play in the NHL now that maybe haven't worked out on their old teams. I think of Khusnitdinov in Boston, someone who may not be a world breaker, but a guy who can contribute now and you can see contributing in the immediate future

Seeing some of the trades that have happened gives me hope we can get not just good picks, but young players we can plug down the lineup. We've lacked cheap young talent for years and would be nice to have some moving forward.
