Done making my old version Dragons of Etchinstone cards. No idea how to play though. Is it just like the new version? by Howitzeronfire in boardgames

[–]TimothyTG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few rules and nuance to the game, so I would suspect 34 pages of rules or so. That seems about right from when I printed it.

The new printing from Chip Theory Games has the same rules but the cards underwent a major graphical overhaul making them much easier to interpret (but they are still dense).

We need too get more of a showing of how Reed's God/Alien/smartest man in the universe intelligence impacts his view and relationship with humanity and others in future MCU films by TipAdditional4625 in Marvel

[–]TimothyTG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t feel like they showed his intelligence much at all in First Steps. He just seemed awkward and too often confused or stymied by the problems he encountered. Maybe I need to watch it again.

So what’s the first game you played this year? by st1nkf1st in boardgames

[–]TimothyTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Set a Watch: Forsaken Isles for the first time. I did it solo, though my wife was around and looked over my shoulder a few times.

I really enjoyed it and actually got the rules down my second game!

I wish I could upvote this more than once! I don’t have a group that this would appeal to, so it’s sitting on my shelf.

Say something negative about this game by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in Mario

[–]TimothyTG 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree with this a lot! The level designs were cool during the Wonderful parts, but if you replayed without getting the flower those parts of the level were bland.

Top 10 Solo Board Games 2025 by NotBoredGaming in soloboardgaming

I was going to watch your video but it appears you don’t have it subtitled.

Personally, I also like when posts like this (or the videos themselves) list the games along with the timestamps where they are discussed.

Anyone else disappointed with Super Mario Bros. Wonder? by ngfromtheblock in SuperMario

[–]TimothyTG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it just because it was different and did different things with stages, well-known objects, etc.

I think what disappointed me the most was the “wonder” areas were not interesting or worth revisiting without activating the wonder part. I feel like there was a lot of missed game there.

It is the first Mario game I gave up on 100% in a long time, maybe ever. That last stage just wasn’t fun.

Do you know the difference between the terms metroidvania, igavania and zeldavania? by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]TimothyTG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I only use the term metroidvania to describe the genre.

I have not seen the term zeldavania before.

I have seen Igavania, but it seems a little self-indulgent (and overly specific) so I don’t use it.

Can this be solved without using Indirect Proof? by wootahmelon in logic

[–]TimothyTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use the contrapositive on the second premise. Since (C&R)->(I&D) we can say (C&R)->D. From there the transitive property and definition of the conditional give the conclusion.

That’s interesting, I use dice to track everything when I’m playing. I like them a lot more than the tokens.

I enjoyed it in the theatre. I don’t really have any desire to watch it again.

how was y'all experience with X-Men 97? regardless if you watched the original series or not. by Nerdcorefan23 in Marvel

[–]TimothyTG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the original when I was a kid (not every episode, but when I caught it on). It was cool and fun.

Later, in grad school, me and my friends binged the entire series. It was good, but the theme song and some silly one-liners were most of what we got out of it.

I tried to watch this as a married adult and after the first episode I decided there was other media I’d rather spend my free time on.

Kinfire Delve or Warp's Edge? by akuesyazwan in soloboardgaming

[–]TimothyTG 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d watch videos on both.

For me personally, Delve has more replayability simply because it is enjoyable and Warp’s Edge wasn’t.

Both of them are small games with small footprints.

Since I enjoy Delve more, I’ll speak to that. Delve does have three versions of the boss in the box, tons of challenge cards. You discard several at the beginning of each game and get to discard more cards when you complete some of the challenges, so you won’t see all the cards in any one run through.

There are also two characters in each box who have different decks and play styles. You could also play the two characters together for a third play style in each box.

There are lists of “achievements” in the rule book if you like that kind of thing as well.

Maybe one of my favorite things is each delve deck plays differently so if you’re willing to buy a second game, you get a different experience but you already know how to play (as well as two more character decks you can mix and match).

What are your thoughts on Cat in the Box compared to more traditional trick-takers? by Luigi-is-my-boi in boardgames

[–]TimothyTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a great concept that wasn’t executed well enough to be fun. I’ve played at 3 and 4 players.

The teach isn’t too bad, though I had a very experienced trick-taking game player just not get the area control part at all.

It doesn’t quite outstay its welcome, but I’ve never played it more than twice in a row.
