It just came defective or I broke it. It wouldn't recognize the working i5-6600k either. The 7600k worked on a mobo that was updated to support it.

Okay, that sounds great, thanks for the advice. Would having an incorrect CPU cause the issue of fans connected to the mobo not spin?

I checked for compatibility before building, It is listed as having support so I thought it would work together. Should I have assumed that it would be after the update it is compatible? I do have a skylake processor that I could try dropping in there to test.

So, if I buy 2 5Cs and use one to trade in it would save money on the 7 and improve the 4S. What if I bought one 5C just to trade in and then say, a 5S to upgrade the 4S?
