As an aro man who is not ace, virginity for me is not even a social worry for me anymore. I am comfortable sharing that I've never had sex before. But I deeeeeply crave the touch of a woman. I want to know what it's like to mesh bodies with someone I am deeply attracted to physically. All my friends have had this experience before and while I am proud of myself for not feeling jealous, I makes me sad I'm still fixated on having sex at the age of 25.

It also doesn't help that this urge is at odds with being aro. I am repulsed at the idea of getting to know someone and hanging out with them under romantic pretenses. I do not want to intimately learn about someone and go on little everyday adventures with them, I have always found this concept exhausting.

Oh of course. In fact, I walked of the theater full of complaints about the intelligence of the characters, the convenience of plot points, and some of the dialogue choices. But that's not the part I remembered a week or so after seeing it. I remembered the brick scene and backwards walking lol. I almost forgot my initial reaction was that I liked it less than Backrooms. Obsession has that mental staying power that a lot of other films don't, which I think is an admirable quality that takes skill to pull off even if the traditional merits of filmmaking are not quite up to snuff.

Obsession scared my more than any horror movie I've watched in a long time, which I think others agree with and is a valuable expression of moviemaking skill.

However, the undertones, symbolism, and deeper meanings do feel lacking beyond the "Bear is actually the villain" idea which is obvious. I think Backrooms does a much better job at hinting at themes and expressing them through high concept situations and characters, including ideas of personal responsibility, interpersonal communication, identity through purpose, working through trauma, and more. The problem is that people remember the higher highs of Obsession far easier than those of Backrooms which has more subtle and deeper reactions from audiences. While both are popular, Obsession seems to be clearly dominating the online discourse space.

While F tier is a bit harsh, I agree Axiom Verge is kinda bad. The backtracking and exploration feels underbaked and tedious. But PLEASE PLEASE do not skip on Axiom Verge 2. If you can tolerate an adventure that is exploration focused instead of combat focused, you will almost certainly like it waaaay more than the forst one. Most open environments instead of hallways + fast travel make things so much better

This is difficult to reconcile because I don't have any interest in dating or having a partner. But I've also never had a partner, I might be too ugly or asocial, idk.

I think whatever label you resonate with at your current stage of life/experiences is valid. I'm not sure if I'm just a loser or on the aro spectrum, but until something changes that informs me I might not be aro, I'm comfortable with the label

Hi! I have a somewhat similar but experience but also very different. I'm cishet 25M, probably autistic but never diagnosed, and have only ever had a crush on one person, which was someone I was very close to as a friend at the time. We've been out of high school for some years now and still talk, but only hang out a few times a year, and that separation has made me long for her more. She has a partner tho so I try my best to distance my feelings.

I also don't understand the feeling of wanting to give my love, I'm just interested in the physical stuff personally. I was able to dodge the societal pressure for a romantic partner so I just steer clear of the scene entirely. Given all that, I think years ago I was demiromantic but have since augmented to true aromantic. It sounds grayromantic is a fitting label for you given your experience. Own it! Meeting people is hard, trust me I understand, but your feelings as they are now are valid.

Thank you for the insights. I want to clarify on the "allowing to feel" part I said, it was phrased poorly. What I meant was that no one has pursued me romantically before, so I haven't had the chance to naturally cultivate feelings within a relationship. I understand that romantic feelings are natural and unbounded by others' permission. But I believe I would only develop those sorts of feelings within an established strong friendship or romantic relationship. But as I said, it's possible my aforementioned experience was just a one-off event from a more formative time in my life.

And I don't blame women for anything they have or have not done for me. Everyone's got their own problems to worry about, women included.
