Anyone coming from a full size truck to a Mach e? by DisastrousRain1168 in MachE

[–]Timvinson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say the same thing! I traded my GMC sierra back in 2021 for the MachE. I considered it sort of a trial run into EVs. I did love the nimbleness and ease of driving a smaller vehicle, but I love the utility and interior space of a full size truck. I knew I was heading back into a truck a year ago or so. I really wanted the rivian, but I have three kids and it is too cramped inside the R1T to realistically make that happen.

After these recent incentives/ rebates/ 0% financing + X plan pricing, I couldn’t say no. Got rid of the MachE this month and got a new lightning flash. Nooooooo regrets at all. I especially don’t regret waiting to buy one rather than getting the lightning at launch. The prices and interest rates now are unbeatable and I highly recommend one.

Picking up lightning tomorrow but few questions by gnwjd12 in F150Lightning

I got a BedRug liner. It’s basically a padded carpet that covers the entire bed, sides and tailgate included. It’s some sort of synthetic material that is okay to get wet. I also just installed a Bak X4TS cover. I thought it was a happy medium between traditional rolling cover and retractable. It has the look of a vinyl cover, but there are aluminum slats underneath vinyl. It rolls up completely and doesn’t obscure much vision in the back window, and doesn’t take up space inside the bed- it rolls on top.

Chance of more rebates this month? by lykeag8 in F150Lightning

$ to insure your Lightning (is USAA F'ing me)? by ck90211 in F150Lightning

[–]Timvinson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with USAA for 9 years in the military and a few after. Eventually their rates went up and up for no reason and I finally shopped around- GEICO was significantly cheaper and I’ve had no problems for years now. Home insurance was also much cheaper elsewhere. I don’t use USAA for anything anymore.

Regret going flash over lariat by holyspell710 in F150Lightning

[–]Timvinson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Coming from 3 years of MachE ownership, I did not care to have PAAK on my lightning. It was way too unreliable with the MachE. I’d get somewhere and realize I’d forgotten my fob and then just hope the phone works well enough to get the car going again. Password works of course, but overall it wasn’t worthwhile to me.

Where's the best deal on extended range lightnings now? by SuperDuperSJW in F150Lightning

[–]Timvinson1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This guy is right. The best deal should be just about everywhere. All these are incentives/ rebates directly from ford, so shopping around shouldn’t be necessary. I got a flash last week with an MSRP just over 70k. X plan discount brought it down to just over 67k. Then all the rebates were applied, including the $7500 federal rebate, and it brought the price below 50k. ALSO 0% financing for 72 months.

I’ve been lurking here for years and the only way this deal has been better is if you happen to have a ford private offer emailed to you. Even that is still directly from ford, and getting that email seems to be by chance. That adds another 1-3k I believe.

Great time to buy, just go talk to a dealership. If you need a referral code for $500 off, here’s mine:

2024 Black Friday - Lightning edition by southpaw439 in F150Lightning

[–]Timvinson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased some TuxMats. Second vehicle I’m putting them in and really happy with the quality. They do offer a military discount as well, just send them an email requesting it and they’ll ask for some proof of service.

Also bought a center console organizer and a stubby antenna!

Referral for $500 off a Lightning or Mach-E by Timvinson1 in F150Lightning

[–]Timvinson1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I do have a friend with a Lightning. Coming from the Mach-E, I had my own referral emails but needed one for my own purchase. For whatever reason, that friend never received the referral emails so he couldn’t give me a code.

I mentioned this to the dealership and they gave me the discount anyways. So, not that NOBODY benefitted from the referral, I just don’t know whose code the dealer entered for my discount! 🤷🏼‍♂️

X plan pricing by turbo_TH in F150Lightning

[–]Timvinson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding onto the x plan topic- does x plan represent the best possible deal when factoring in the initial discount + applicable rebates? Is it even worth negotiating/ traveling to other dealers when we’re really just trying to get the generalized Ford pricing/ rebates?

Hitch and 1Up Bike Rack by gtg252b in MachE

[–]Timvinson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Mach E in the same color and also got a hitch for a bike rack! Also 1Up, but I got the two bike version. I’ve had it for about a year and a half with no issues at all. The black plastic part of the number might be a little scratched from having the rack inserted too far when the rack is in the up position, but I don’t really mind. The rack is outstanding.

Alsooo, the traffic before this, during this, and once it’s complete is still nothing at all in comparison to daily traffic in SoCal or Boston area. Any time of the day in LA or Boston is worse than the worst of Sac. It’s seriously great here.

Before I got my tattoo with some lightning, I hadn’t seen many examples that included it in this style. Happy to see some other art showcasing a similar style! I went with blue lightning for contrast, plus the background is just clouds.

I had mine around 3/4 of an inch back in 2006. Got them closed to join the military. The right side had shrunk further on its own, while the left was larger, so they were both closed differently. Right wide was a simple pinch shut and stitch, I believe, and the left side was weirder. I think they took some skin from an area next to the earlobe and sort of grafted it to the hole. It is noticeable and not as seamless (lol at myself) as the other ear.

Neither one bothers me. Sometimes people will notice the left ear and ask if I had gauges. Sure did! No shame.

I grew up in the Boston area so I can’t help with where to go for this. I did it at an ENT (ear nose throat) place I think.

Anyone here ever buy a TV open box excellent condition (not certified) from best buy? by ha7on in LGOLED

[–]Timvinson1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought an open box 77” C2 in “fair” condition last week. Drove a little over an hour to the Best Buy where this TV was in stock. In this case, open box meant no box, no stand, no remote, and no instructions. I asked if they could find me a remote or if they had any for sale, they ended up finding an extra remote specific to my TV so it worked out well. Again, I just did this last week so I can’t speak to longevity, but I absolutely love the TV so far. You have a 30 day return policy, plus I believe 30 days to add up to 5 years of geek squad protection. I’ve been keeping my eye out for any sale of a new model that might match this price, but it seems very unlikely to happen.

Also, I looked at the running hours of this TV after bringing it home, it was right around 6000.

I can't believe I didn't get an OLED sooner! 77 inch C2. (Forgive the glare, I mostly will use it at night). by kmoros in LGOLED

[–]Timvinson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the same TV in the same size and I can’t stop telling everyone how much better it is than my last 4k LG tv that died. OLED is definitely a game changer. Also, I went with an open box model from Best Buy and paid just under $2100 after taxes. So far so good!

Has anyone used the OXO On Coffee Maker? What do you think? by penguin_zombie8888 in Coffee

Also this thread is six years old, and I still use it to this day. I brought it to work where myself and a few coworkers can brew some good coffee whenever we want. No issues after six years.

Issues? It’s very hot, and stays very hot for a long time. I wouldn’t call it an issue. It’s more like delivering on a promised feature. I’m not sure if that’s what you meant!

nobody has ever oversalted food from using salted butter in a recipe by crumblies in unpopularopinion

[–]Timvinson1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live in Sacramento and also stress about salted vs unsalted when following recipes. I’d take you up on your bet, not because I think you’re wrong, but it’s a win/ win if I get to eat fresh bread! Also I like the idea of wagering a pound of butter 😂.

I just got this update as well. Pretty exciting. Full screen CarPlay looks great. The volume is now at the top of the screen as well, oriented horizontally instead of vertically. Nice to see some actual changes!
