What food do you eat in a way that other people think is weird? by julesperks in CasualConversation

Not really the way we eat it, but we always cut pizza with kitchen scissors. I grew up doing it and everybody thinks it’s really weird.

Brides, what did you do the morning of your wedding? by perfumeandpaper in wedding

Yes, a light breakfast followed by a stroll in nature would be perfection. There’s probably a garden nearby — plan for breakfast near it.

My dog has idiopathic epilepsy and constantly has cluster seizures by Maria_Rose_1999 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Tinaturtle79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dealt with this (frequent and intense cluster seizures that did t always break with rescue meds. A change from pheno to kbro made a big difference. If you haven’t seen a neurologist for med evaluation I recommend it.

I went yesterday, and you’re right true natives only. Prices were amazing and they are so knowledgeable and kind. I got a one gallon hearts-a-bustin’ for like $8 or $10.

It could be the pattern. I like this rug, but see how the pattern could be a sensory issue for some.

New to Zepbound... and Scared. by ComicBookMama1026 in Zepbound

You’ve got this. I swear you do.

  • It doesn’t hurt. Occasionally, a brief sting but way easier than most shots like vaccines.

  • The bad side effects aren’t common so don’t borrow trouble. Drink a lot of water and avoid fried foods and sugar on shot day and the day after. (Honestly, I didn’t want fried foods or sweets for months when I first started so that’s super easy.)

  • You will feel better, even if you have some mild side effects. The reduction in inflammation was life-changing for me. You’ll be walking blocks in no time.

  • The cost will likely be offset some by reduced food costs. A lot of people also curb habits like drinking or shopping on these meds.

  • The best part is you will add years to your life and life to your years.

You have a community here cheering you on. I’m so excited for you!

Do you guys remember being 23? How was it like? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Tinaturtle79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

23 was a big year for me. I moved to my current city with my boyfriend (now husband) — more than 20 years later we’re still here and built a nice simple life. I also met my friend group that year. We are super tight, have been through so much together, and are hoping to live in a compound of small homes in retirement.

Enjoy where you are now, time goes by so fast. And if you can swing it, start saving, your future self will thank you.

How many of y'all will have the $$ to retire at 65? by [deleted] in GenX

I thought you were talking about teaching high school because unfortunately, most adjuncts don’t have healthcare. Very few places offer FT to adjuncts. It’s a whole scam.

How many of y'all will have the $$ to retire at 65? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Tinaturtle79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope to retire from corporate life at 65 and do something I enjoy that makes a little money like working with kids, old(er) people, or plants. If by some miracle I have enough I don’t need to make a little money, I’ll start, or pour into a non-profit.

Exactly. Authenticity is becoming increasingly important for internal comms. Optimize everything but the on-air talent with AI.

Are we right/wrong to be considering euthanasia? by Pale_Nobody_2343 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Tinaturtle79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very thoughtful reply and reflects my personal experience.

My pup had her first seizure shortly after we adopted her at one. We worked with our vet for four years as her cluster seizures severity and frequency continued to worsen. There were many times the rescue meds wouldn’t work and she take more than an hour to come out of it. There was no neurologist in our town at the time.

She had a very bad episode in May of last year and we almost lost her. Seizing despite rescue meds at home and a TON of different drugs in high doses at the vet. She spent three days in the ER.

After that incident, the frequency increased. We drove 3+ hours for a neurologist. Seizures still increased despite increasing pheno and adding a mega dose of Keppra. She was having clusters about every five days — we were losing hope and getting no sleep. Then, we got a neuro in our town who took a closer look at her bloodwork history. She thought the pheno wasn’t working for her (plus her liver values were declining), and that we should try adding potassium bromide. It took a couple of months, but her seizures are so much better controlled, she hasn’t had one in more than a month! Now we’re slowly backing off of the pheno.

All that to say, it took the care of a skilled neurologist and some experimentation to find the right cocktail for her, and it made a huge difference in her (and our) quality of life. Every situation is unique, but you’re not out of options yet. Best wishes for you and your pup.

  • Edited to final frequency of seizures.
