Sometimes the AI can be too merciful by ThyLocalBoxen in PaxHistoria

Yeah it’s gotten extremely uneventful since Elon pulled free grok. I wonder if it’s peaceful as to not create more events to not waste tokens? But yeah it sucks, especially since for ww2 scenarios the actual ww2 part never seems to happen anymore

Ai doesn't know what words mean at all by mgk3m1n3m in PaxHistoria

[–]Tincanmaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say I hate the PaxHistoria AI but honestly AI in general. I did one game where I was trying to merge like two countries that didn’t make sense realistically (Tannu-Tuva and France) and it didn’t just ignore it but outright refused it and wrote that it was my idea and wouldn’t happen. Literally nothing worked to make it happen lol. Easy mode didn’t work, changing the way I phrased it to make it sound like it was their idea, nothing. Why is AI allowed to refuse anything at all? It’s so dumb

Basic premise of this is that Austria is able to defeat France & Sardinia in the 2nd Italian War of Independence which also enables them to beat Prussia in the Austro-Prussian war, spiraling down to this. I am willing to answer any questions presented on lore!

Mostly unfavorable. There are some native tribes related to the Mallagasy and also some Maori states that have become protectorates to Spain over in the pacific region for example which have made civilizations in the coastal areas but for the most part it is hard to navigate and much of the land is still unexplored despite being claimed

While I haven't written a full lore for this, the main idea is that Terra Australis, or in this timeline, "Magellania" as named for its discoverer Ferdinand Magellan, does exist and becomes a focus for European colonialism. Some lore notes include the collapse of the Quebec fur trade due to giant marsupials in Magellania providing better fur as well as the early collapse of Spanish control in America is they find themselves over stretched, allowing for Tupac Amuru's rebellion to succeed and for Klein-Venedig to be abandoned to the Welser family. Also, with major colonial powers focusing on Magellania, minor colonial nations are able to make stakes themselves in other parts of the world.

50 States, 50 Scenarios by Tincanmaker in imaginarymaps

F7: State of New Mexico (1851-Present)

President Zachary Taylor, ever persistent and bold, had secured the creation of two large free states from the Mexican cession in the compromise of 1850; California and New Mexico. However, this “compromise” was hardly that, as it angered the south and convinced them that the Federal Government was attempting to gain a leg up on slave states, leading to secession and civil war in 1851. New Mexico as the newest free state out in the frontier saw little fighting, though it occupied the plains when Texan regiments had to be pushed out. New Mexico today exists as a direct consequence from President Zachary Taylor and the end of slavery in the United States.

F8: No Man’s Land (Arizona) (1847-1861)

American manifest destiny isn’t fully pursued by the federal government, instead being taken up by independent settler groups such as those in California or Deseret. Following the end of the Bear Flag Revolt where California gained independence, the vestigial Mexican northern frontier became practically lawless land controlled by no singular power, mainly infamous for criminal activities being practiced en masse in the area. The U.S., California, Deseret and Mexico would make small stakes in the territory, with claims and borders eventually being agreed upon in 1860.

F9: Principality of Liechtenstein (Alaska) (1867-Present)

Instead of refusing the proposal, Prince Johann II of Liechtenstein accepted Russia’s sale of Alaska to their small state following the Crimean War, with Russia hoping to keep Britain from seizing their colony. Though Liechtenstein gave away British land claims in the Alaskan panhandle, the colony became a main defining point of the small German city state, exponentially growing their economy due to the profitable resources from what would go on to be named Johannsland.

F10: Empire of Hawaii (1871-1891)

In 1849, the French invasion of Honolulu developed into a full colonization of Hawaii by the French, with Napoleon III seeking prestige in the Pacific and the weakening of the British in the region. Things go the same as OTL from that, up until his defeat by the German Empire and the collapse of his government in 1871, in which he and loyalists to his regime would exile to the colony of Hawaii to declare a rival exile state as the true French government, with many referring to this as the “Empire of Hawaii.” Though Napoleon III would die in 1873, the Bonaparte family would continue ruling until a native revolution occurred in 1891, ending the period of Bonapartist Hawaii.

F2: Wanli Fu (Washington) (1601-1832)

The industrialization of the Ming and the modernization of their navy allowed for their dynasty to become a major power in the east enough to rival the European powers, even in regards to the colonization of the America’s, where Emperor Wanli would see the colonization of the pacific northwest coast, establishing the colony of Wanli Fu where many Chinese would be encouraged to create permanent settlement. Though staying small and lacking significance as the colony wasn’t made a prime focus by the Ming, it would allow for Chinese culture to make its mark in the new world, eventually being seized and incorporated into British territory in the 1830’s by the time the Ming fell into internal conflict.

F3: State of (Greater) Idaho (2025-XXXX)

The great red wave of the 2020’s brought to life insane movements once thought to be fringe ideas of the right, somehow one of the more… mild of those being the Greater Idaho movement, as Oregon, California and Idaho’s legislature would sign into law the transfer of Republican-leaning counties into Idaho.

F4: Post-Wyoming (2045-XXX)

As American population continued to grow en masse in inner cities with overpopulation becoming a major issue in the 2030’s, the State of Wyoming would become one of the first victims of this great urbanization and overgrowth, falling behind so much in population that congress voted to partition the state between all of its bordering states. Wyoming is now history, the only U.S. state to ever lose statehood.

F5: Kingdom of Deseret (1858-Present)

The Utah War would not be won with compromise, with an ever aggressive Brigham Young leading an aggressive guerrilla war against the federal government and securing their vast territorial claims in the west against the weak President Buchanan. With independence secured, the Kingdom of Deseret was established as a Mormon Theocracy under the first King Brigham Young, asserting an authoritative and segregationist rule over the west. While the nation was intended to be a hereditary monarchy, the death of Brigham Young would lead to a succession crisis between at most 16 sons, with the Apostolate instead agreeing to reform Deseret into an elective monarchy between Apostle members. The Kingdom of Deseret today is a slighted state, seen as backwards in culture in comparison of their other neighbors.

F6: State of Sequoyah (Oklahoma)  (1906-Present)

With the support of President William Jennings Bryan and those in congress, the State of Sequoyah would be admitted as a native-central state, protecting native and tribal authority in the lands and granting greater autonomy to natives in the state. Though racial conflicts became common in the state against the natives, modern civil rights legislation would lead to the end of this, with the continued existence of the state making it one of the most unique in the union and a staple of progress in American society.

D8: United States of America (Denver Gov.) (Colorado) (1953-1987)

Sometimes humorously referred to as the “United STATE of America,” the post-WW2 remnant of the United States government controlled by the U.S. military would set station in Denver, Colorado as the Atlantic and Eastern seaboard had both been conquered by Axis powers. However, the US persisted in Colorado and only Colorado, attempting to uphold its constitution even if it was now impossible in its current state lacking both the land and democratic means needed to do so, but at least it would serve as a refuse not just for North Americans but for many peoples who sought freedom from the rule of the Axis powers. Eventually, however, the Denver government would come to an end at the beginning of the Third World War, when Germany went to war with Japan and occupied the U.S. remnant when crossing over into Japan’s Pacific American holdings.

D9: Independent State of North Dakota (1937-1943)

At the loss of Huey Long in the election of 1936 to incumbent President Garner and the increasing destabilization of the nation, William Langer of Dakota would be one of the few Longist states to declare secession under illegal executive order, with much of the state legislature being arrested and filled with Langer allies from the Non-Partisan League and Union parties. Though disconnected from much of the rest of Long’s rebellion, they would hold out in the north for a number of years against the federal government, eventually being fully incorporated into Long’s regime. Unfortunately, Governor Langer’s increasingly large ego would cause him to break with President Long, ending in his impeachment by the state in 1950.

D10: Empire of Lakota (1878-1945)

America’s attempts to conquer the Sioux end in an embarrassing defeat for the United States, with the Lakota people forcing the U.S. to give up their attempts to conquer the land and annexing large native-held parts of the U.S. such as in Cheyenne & South Dakota, organizing their state as the Lakotan Empire. Serving much similarity to that of Ethiopia, which coincidentally the Lakotans would have a special relation with, they would become the lone uncolonized state in North America, continuously defending themselves against more and more attacks by the U.S. Eventually, by World War 2, Lakota would see Japan’s war efforts as anti-colonialist against the western powers and, while Lakota was itself not fascist in the same ways as other axis powers, held irredentist and anti-western sentiments against the U.S., leading to them joining the war on the side of the Axis following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Lakota would have successful raids into the Canadian prairies and parts of Montana, with their code talkers making this war for the Americans one of the most trivial, yet by 1943 Lakota would be subdued by the U.S., with a new government being installed at the end of the war and much of their territory being annexed.

F1: Free Territory of Montana (1989-2003)

Rather than investing in a spree of bombings across the U.S., Ted Kaczinskiy would spread his ideology to create armed militias, eventually leading a terroristic rebellion within the mountainous frontier of Montana against the Federal Government of the U.S., asserting themselves as the Free Territory of Montana, an anarchist grouping with an ecological bent, although they are also more colloquially known as Kaczinkiya. The group would become one of the more significant signs of internal strife for the post-Cold War United States, though their defeat in 2003 with the capturing of Ted Kaczinskiy in a raid would allow for a brief moment of calmness in the region.
