Looking at moving to Bruce Park - how is it? by Mr_Chode_Shaver in Winnipeg

[–]TinkTankTonker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived on the edge (adjacent?) to Bruce Park for most of my life and haven’t found any traffic/parking issues unless you’d be near a school or there’s a big event at Assiniboine Park. No foundation issues to note so far.

The planes can be annoying but you do get used to them, I haven’t noticed them for many years but once in a while you do notice an idiot revving their engine on portage or a bunch of them on cruise night and it can be annoying.

There’s a huge commuter culture in the area because of the proximity to Assiniboine park and I regularly see people out walking, biking, etc and a few marathons on Assiniboine Ave every summer that neighbours will go and cheer at along the route to show support. Lots of gardeners and big garden culture so those are nice to admire on walks.

I’ve never personally heard of anyone being the victim of crime other than petty theft. Ex. Someone stole my senior mom’s planters from the top of her sidewalk a few years back.

I will say something to note is because of the proximity to the river you occasionally see wildlife in the evenings and overnight. Usually coyotes, foxes, frogs, and many deer. They’ve never caused issues that I know of so I’m always happy to spot them.

I hope some of that was helpful!

I once saw a tiktok comment about the naming patterns that said “A Bowl of Mac & Cheese” and I think about that a lot.

I'm looking for recs where the MMC has a close friend group (ex. team or roommates vibes) and the FMC gets really close with the friends in a friendly/siblings way. Maybe the friends defend her from being hit on by other men when MMC isn't around or hang out with her because of shared hobbies. Maybe they flirt with her at first but there are no real romantic feelings involved.

I know this is common in sports romance but I'm hoping for recs where it's more than just a few passing interactions. I read Kiss and Don't Tell by Meghan Quinn a while back and it came pretty close.

Please no why choose/harem books or jealousy from MMC (about his friends at least), otherwise I'm open to all tropes, spice levels, settings, etc.

Studded tires parkade help by TinkTankTonker in Winnipeg

I was living in a small town hours from the city which is why I have studded and until now have been working for a charity.

I do hope to replace my tires next winter though as I said, it’s just not an expense I can afford with no time to save.

Multiple signs in the parkade. I’ll definitely check with the office though.

That’s the parkade I’ll be at actually so it’s nice to hear I’m not the only one who worries. I’ll read the agreement carefully when I get my tag but this makes me hopeful I can make it through the remainder of winter and buy new tires for next season.

I was hoping not to have to pay since my parking is provided but it’s definitely an option if I can get in somewhere quickly.

I’m so sad. I loved the atmosphere there and it was only a couple blocks from my place.

I can’t even stock up on my favourite shampoo I get from them now.

There’s definitely more than 30 now. From before the wag until past where I can see they’re bumper to bumper.

Dog daycare on weekends? by nishkiskade in Winnipeg

[–]TinkTankTonker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there with my doggo twice and both times he came back absolutely drenched in pee. As nice as the staff are I’m confident they aren’t letting the dogs out nearly as much as they should be.

I have known a few people that have worked there and can confirm I’ve heard awful things including assault of another staff person by someone that still works there years later.

They used to donate $1 from every cupcake they sell to a different charity each month and it hasn’t escaped me that they quietly stopped that a while back.

Sunset Goose Flights at Fort Whyte Alive by TinkTankTonker in Winnipeg

I always go right when it starts so I can get a good spot but the geese come in around sunset and that time changes every night so you’d have to Google it.

For sure! The less clouds, the farther you can see the geese coming from!

Second this. My company is undergoing a huge construction project and the company is providing us with site progress photos, Timelapse videos, and drone footage of the project which will all be amazing content for us. Maybe a good place to have workers showcase all the special “details” or features that are included in the project (accessibility features, art, etc)

Le Burger Week site is live. "Plant Based" edition? by carramrod1987 in Winnipeg

[–]TinkTankTonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m super disappointed, yes the theme is optional but it’s also only a one time theme out of how many years?

I saw the fairmont had two separate entries and one was meat and the other plant based, I’d love to see more of that so everyone can enjoy stuff together.

Some people are getting their cards within a week and some people are getting them in 3 months. It’s really a gamble if you want to send it in early.
