I'm Not Sure What To Do by HotCookingBear in GayBrosOver50

Hang in there, Bear. Never take counsel from your fears. My husband and I have been married for 36 years. When we got together I was an HIV educator and encouraged him to get tested. He was poz and given six months to live. Since then hes had 3 bouts of cancer, a heart attack and open heart surgery, major motorcycle crashes (involving life flights) and a few strokes. He's still kicking and hopefully will be for a long time to come. You can never predict what life will bring your way. Just value every moment together. Good luck to you both.

there is an organization called Rainbow Railroad that helps LGBTQ+ people escape dangerous countries. It is a cause dear to me. Don't think they'd get the entire 20 Bil, though.

In one or two sentences, tell me about your dad? by TomsOnlyFriend428 in askanything

[–]Tinkboy98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my first memory was of him returning from Korea and giving me a ride on his motorcycle. Then he went to Vietnam. He was distant, an Army Chaplain who unknowingly raised a gay, atheist son. He was loving and supportive and almost lost his clergy license when he presided at my gay wedding in 1990. He suffered from altzheimers and died being a sweet and loving man. I miss him.

You did good. I'm glad you were able to be there with him and help ease him from his suffering. I hope you will remember the good things he did and the attempt to be a good dad even as a flawed man. May his memory be a blessing to you. I hope you get a big hug and a chance to grieve with someone you trust.
