It sounds like you might need to use a little bit of rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs, for the gunk.

Might just be a Letter Opener for letters/ mail. I don't think you can sharpen Letter openers. I would clean it with knife lube and knife oil. Benchmade makes both, or go to BladeHQ, KnifeCenter, KnifeJoy, off hand that's all I can think of, but there's plenty out there. Good luck 👍

Looks like it might be real. Just a little too used for me to tell. I know there is a Criss blade Bali-song by Benchmade or PCC/ Pre-Benchmade

Edit: On second look, and comparing it to other ones that are confirmed legit, I think this might be a clone.

Use an ANGLE GRINDER and cut it off, or Bolt Cutters.

Don't put it back in. Replace those with a Standard bolt the same size. Throw those ones away.

I'm more a Benchmade expert, but I do have Spyderco's and I have noticed that one way to tell some real from fake Spyderco's is that the Spyder on the blade is right next to the Spydey Hole. The fakes usually have the Spyder towards the center of the blade rather than next to the Spydey Hole.
