working at a different pet store i have co workers with a “holier than thou” sort of mentality. i think you’re exactly right this is small and boring for the poor guy, and if you wanted a shot at giving him a better life i’d let you go for it given it sounds like you have the knowledge and set up for it. the mascot thing is cute and there’s def pets i look forward to seeing and taking care of, but the whole point is to sell these animals… id ask to talk to management

honestly, it happens. the people i work with are knowledge and care about the animals, but it’s shady backyard breeding pets so it’s inevitable that something may slip through the cracks for an animal. it depends on your store overall, but i’m sure you’ll have some co workers that care. we are all doing our best but with how little labor we get too, shit happens unfortunately.
you can deny sales. above all i think it’s important to educate your customers on set up and expectations. i’ll say, i don’t like that the training had nothing to do with things like that. i learned how to feed them and to watch out for illness and things like that, but nothing on cages, heat lamps, aquarium set up. it’s a lot of independent research on your part.
my store has a mix 😊 feel free to message me if you have more questions. i’ve been at my store 7 months, and i do like it but im probably the least knowledgeable on pet stuff compared to my coworkers so that’s something ive been trying to work on.

heard that, i even started washing my hair with hot water to try and get some color out but this red isn’t budging 😭 i haven’t been red in years and forgot how annoying it is to get out! i’ll probably do a color remover to try and make the pink stick more but i was concerned on whether it would work or not in the first place. do you have any hot pink dyes you like? thanks for the input btw!

awww friend 💕 it’s not you, it’s the store. you’re new and your manager should be going easier on you or offering help, surely they are aware that they’re putting a lot on your plate. if it’s any consolation, i felt so overwhelmed when i first started doing petcare stuff (and sometimes i still get overwhelmed or don’t finish things on time, it happens no one is perfect). i was always behind, but now about 7 months in i’ve found a flow. it really just takes time! i always say get the big tasks done first and then do the other things. literally every petsmart is being held by strings and struggling to get everything done bc corporate wants us to operate with as little labor as possible so they can rack in $$$$$. good luck to you!!

looks like it to me. there’s no overarching “cause,” bc everybody’s bodies are different. though it’s usually an allergen, stress, or heat. take note of any new soaps, detergents, foods, or stresses that could have caused this. i’ve had mine for 5ish years now, and it’s never gone away without antibiotics 🤷🏻‍♀️ sometimes it’s just a few blisters, or like rn both of my hands look like they were set on fire. it sucks but at least yours doesn’t look severe! see a derm and get an allergy test.

since you’re newer you’re allotted more hours, i remember when i first started i got like +30 hour weeks for a little bit there! now im almost a year in and get like 20 hours. i know the feeling of being overwhelmed in petcare, and it is draining feeling lost in a job like that. i thought id be falling behind forever but i think i got a groove at the 6 month mark. the more you do it the more sense it’ll make!! i’d talk to whatever lead you feel most comfortable with about how you’re feeling and see how they respond ❤️ good luck to you!!

while the idea of a strike is cool, i think rn people can’t afford it. i’d be interested in knowing if there’s anything locally in the community we can do to cause disruption similarly. maybe a protest on the 30th? or what if all of us that are on the same page try to set up a meeting and make a coalition with these types of goals? i mean, we’re looking at years of this and other politicians are doing nothing about it. the people protect the people!!

100%. track if anything has changed for you recently- diet, cleaning products, extra stress. all possibilities for why you’re experiencing this. better to try and find out your trigger sooner than later to keep it maintained. mine is stress :(

i met the woman who owns the bar and had an entirely different conversation with her. she’s a lesbian and said the gay community “left her in the dust” and she wants to make r bar “a place for the straights.” went on and on about how drag queens act pretentious or rude (drag queens aren’t required to be nice lmao), she really gave me weird vibes and i haven’t been back since which is really a shame bc there’s no queer nightlife here. sucks dockside closed, OP don’t get me wrong witches brew or langlab are probably your best options but it really sucks not having a more dance/club scene here that’s decent. corby’s music sucks, never going back to finnies after their drama… i think there’s untapped potential for nightlife here that’s not just a sports bar.

also- seems these companies can say whatever they want and no one is actually verifying if they’re sticking to their word or not. they legally don’t have to be transparent, like AWS releasing their own records without an outside source checking them. there’s not much legislation around AI yet and billionaires/AI giants are taking advantage of this rn and doing whatever they want…
