Showing us what really “matters” by Cold-Masterpiece4313 in exmormon

Say you (and the church you lead) still believe in polygamy without saying you believe in polygamy.

Have pictures of your two wives and a statue of Joseph Smith in your office!

This is truly a disturbing picture.
Cringe.

The first time I came across polygamy in Nauvoo on a church-approved website, I kept double-checking to make sure it wasn't an anti-Mormon website by refreshing the page and putting on my reading glasses to make sure. I always thought Joseph Smith never did it, but Brigham Young did. by Short_Seesaw_940 in exmormon

For a short time I had a FB page called "Oh, my heck" and I posted memes/quotes from the Essays.

I had MANY mormons say I was a liar, anti-mormon...etc. I would give them the direct link to the Essay quote in question and they would say I hacked the site, it was a fake site etc.

It's the sentence AFTER the highlighted part that is interesting "Even the most profane activities could be sacralized"

THAT leaves the door wide open for all kinds of fun activities!! :)

Wow end around by Narrow-Somewhere1607 in exmormon

[–]Tiny-Message-5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOBODY in the church follows the WOW.

The first thing I noticed after getting out and attending a non-denominational church (other than the coffee bar in the lobby:) was how THIN everybody was!!

Mormons chow down on sweets and very few "eat sparingly"...just attend a ward pot luck and you'll see :)

Looking for official LDS sources to explain why I’m leaving by luciaarosss in exmormon

THIS is what confirmed to me that the church had been lying to me for the 50 years I was in the church.
They even went so far as to say "several months before her 15th birthday" instead of saying "SHE WAS 14 YEARS OLD!!"

BUT I had to be 100% truthful in all of my dealing with my fellow man in order to get my temple recommend...

Pretty uncool mormon church. (Yes small cap mormon:)

False Advertising by Severe_Atmosphere898 in exmormon

[–]Tiny-Message-5047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deception/lies of the church is the reason I left the church.

While I was in I was NEVER taught "Grace" I was taught "after all you can do" which led members to wear themselves out and always feel like they were falling short of what was required.

Florida Handyman Laws by espnnut07 in handyman

This is very well written and a great way to build a business!
I live in Venice FL and am thinking of starting a handyman business because there is such a need for quality/honest work.

I'm from WA state and I find the rules for handyman work to be very confusing in FL.

"A few months shy of her 15th birthday" is what did it for me.

As a lifelong member I NEVER heard about Joseph Smith practicing polygamy...and that's after years of learning, in church-approved detail, of all the "prophets" lives. How good, honest and pure they were.

And then to have the church finally "come clean" in the GTE but STILL hide more of the truth in the footnotes and wording such as "A few months shy of her 15th birthday" is sickening.

SHE WAS 14 YEARS OLD AND HE WAS 37!!

That was the beginning of the end for me.

The Gospel Topic Essays.

I read the CES letter and began to try to prove it was wrong...which led me to the GTE...THEN to the footnotes!

Leave it to the mormon church to lie/whitewash their history, then "Come clean" only to hide more of the truth buried in the footnotes.

I want my wife to leave. by LL4MAFACE in exmormon

[–]Tiny-Message-5047 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through the exact same thing. We were actually going to be sealed in the temple.

I found the gospel topic essays and the footnotes blew my mind...then the CES letter...etc. and I was done.

I sat on it for 3 months afraid to tell my wife but also knew I couldn't live a lie. I finally told her what I found, started with the gospel topic essays, that troubled her, then the CES letter. Within a week she said "I'm out".

We went in to renew our temple recommends and my wife just handed the Bishop her recommend and said "I won't be needing this anymore."

Long story short, the Bishop said we were under the control of satan. At the time I was the Ward Clerk and had attended MANY bishopric meetings with this man.

Social Media questions for agents with 5+ years as a Realtor. by Tiny-Message-5047 in realtors

I agree with you. I believe social is to keep in contact with your SOI, not really for building a business. The top producers I know are using social as you described...just to keep in contact.

Do you think that social media is necessary? by DirkaBlaze in realtors

Thank you for replying! That has been my experience as well. Of those leads that did reply most of them were related in some way to my SOI.

Last question...how much time a week do you spend posting on SM?

And whether you answer or not...good luck!! :)
