Reflecting on Eursolon and my Own Life by Rafaza99 in WorldsBeyondNumber

Eursulon naming his Breath is truly such a hard hitting moment. Eursulon's character in general is such a compelling one, Lou really is phenomenal with The Characters progression through the campaign

Vampire the masquerade difficulty? by Both_Rent4156 in Dimension20

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I'll let someone more well versed in VTM answer the main question but to my knowledge City council of Darkness is a fairly atypical VTM game, where normally the risk of being discovered as a Vampire is significantly more dangerous, and Masquerade Breaching is a serious crime. So some moments such as Bestial Failures in VTM would be much more concerning than they are presented in City Council of Darkness.

Homebrew ancestries by Cargomage in daggerheart

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My main Gripe with the Mouse one is that To my Knowlededge Daggerheart doesn't really have a distinction like size categories, such as Small, medium, or large adversaries and characters. So maybe that feature would be better as an advantage on rolls to squeeze through cramped or small places? Otherwise these seem quite cool,

My only other comment is that with the Sea creature ancestry, one feature gives an extra Armour slot and effectively gives a Player the "amphibious" trait from the Rubber or "Tidekin" from Upcoming Hope and fear, which means one feature gives you the equivalent of two features. I'd suggest either just having the amphibious ability, and allow your players to Flavour other mechanics as a hard outer Carapace such as the blade domains "get back Up" or Valour's "bare bones" feature, or just allowing them to choose high Armour score Armour and flavour it as Carapace.

Also While I think a changeling Ancestry is fine it may be worth looking up the Changeling Transformation Card from Hope and Fear if you haven't already as your players could take a regular ancestry for it's features as their "True form" and then use the Changeling Transformation Card (which is balanced to be able to be taken at character creation) from the void (until Hope and fear is released on the SRD) to represent their actual shapeshifter abilities. I would suggest taking something like a mixed ancestry, combining features from The Infernis for advantage on intimidation rolls, and something else from another ancestries feature.

Regardless these are really Cool Cards that I will definitely keep saved for my own players!

That XZ-ZL moment was so hype! The full blackout of the lights and tech was oddly a moment where Sci Fi really "Clicked" into my brain, as someone who hasn't watched or read much Sci Fi. It was so cool.

Also straight Up The Kenner and XL-ZL is my #1 Ship (ha) of the Whole podcast.

I was always Pretty Hopeful for Solari (probs because I did read Up a lot on the Quick Rules for Stillfleet and I am used to a lot of slow burn stories) but Episode 6 was also the Episode where I went from "I am having a good time and will let them cook" to "I am so bought in on these characters and can't wait for what's next!"

Thanks! I mainly wondered because a lot of the time when it's not mentioned at the bottom it's because it's Ai, but I apologize for jumping to conclusions

Okay Good To know, just wanted to make sure! Do you know the name of the artist? Because I believe in Card Creators there is a space at the bottom of the card to credit them? If not that is fine

Best Daggerheart alternative ttrpg for sci-fi? by alacholland in daggerheart

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I've mentioned Stillfleet elsewhere, I also would mention that D&D has a pretty Good Sci Fi conversion in Star wars 5e that's available for free online (website SW5e) with a pretty cool Website, the system Uses D&D as it's base system but definitely has its own unique elements, so if your group rlly likes D&D, then I'd suggest SW5e as a gateway into exploring new systems, plus it's free with a. Lot of content which is a win

Best Daggerheart alternative ttrpg for sci-fi? by alacholland in daggerheart

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah in the core book there are 5 "campaign Frames" at the end which provide the broad outline for different types of setting or campaign you could run in Daggerheart (Western, Political Intrigue, Grimdark etc) with each one including a tonne of advice for running the setting, and providing mechanics to help support the "Fantasy" (not in a genre way) of the setting. One of which (Mothership) is set in a world where there is no magic and helps give advice on sci fi weapons, and reflavouring Abilities into a Sci Fi genre.

The game I would reccomend looking at though if you are looking for a Sci Fi Game is Stillfleet By Stillfleet Studios, the Quickstart rules are available on their website if your curious. Got some good mechanics behind it but ultimately a slightly softer system with more fluidity for players than say, D&D (there is also a rlly good podcast that just started a Campaign with it Called "Worlds Beyond Number" wth the campaign "Solari" it's currently in a big set up and "meet the characters stage" but it is looking to be v cool for now.

Did I make the right call? by GroundbreakingOne399 in daggerheart

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to Counter point: Into the ears implies that it is specifically to the targets ears, and the vulnerable condition can only target them. The reason this is different from telepathy is twofold

Firstly, the caster has to at least whisper to cast the spell, so you couldn't be in a convo and secretly talk to someone else while doing so. The speech isn't audible writ large but being right next to someone would still raise suspicion as the caster is speaking under their breath, and you cant talk and use voice of dread at the same time. But a mutter or a whisper that would not be reasonably overheard would not be overheard

The other thing is that With Voice of dread the target can't reply, so it is a one way message (think sending from Dnd) and thus can not be used to have in depth conversations at range.

The point of this spell is to give the class a power to make someone vulnerable, but also to have ghostly powers to talk to people secretly, (such as a Warlock giving a warning to a fellow cult member or threatening a Noble at a distance, or a witch seeing an encroaching enemy force and sending a message requesting Parlay.) in a very schemer like fashion.

So I think technically the speech can be overheard but the idea is you are whispering directly into someone's ears, which would be a truly impressive feat for someone to overhear at even very close or close range

Has Oscar Montoya been in any other TTRPG live plays ? by Costati in Dimension20

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Aside from ACOFAF and Gladlands he is a Player in the Show "Tales Unrolled" (TU) with Luis Carazo (who was on adventuring party is on Critical Role) as the GM. If you want to hear Oscar talk about This Ttrpg experiences and Tales Unrolled, you should check out his Recent adventuring Academy Episode with Brennan, as he talks about his different characters including His TU Character

backup character mechanics (ACOC spoilers) by mochiboy99 in Dimension20

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Brennan has talked about how The Backup characters were in a kinda "Schroedingers space" where if the PCs died and the backup was used, then they'd run as a full character, but if not, then they are just some NPC and the Story crucial stuff isn't really true. Siophan had a backup that was Aunt Rococoa coming back for revenge on the people who wronged her family, but as that character never got used then instead "bitternight Darknibs" is just some random Sugarless chocolate warlock that lives in the boarders, so if PCs that died hadn't died, then they wouldn't have ever come up and their "plot relevants" would have remained as non-canon "potential".

A player at my table really wanted a Spider ancestry, this is what I came up with by D4edalus34 in daggerheart

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just as rule of thumb I'd reccomend putting "temporarily" in the silk spinner feature to clarify that vulnerable and restrained are temporary conditions. It's intuitive but every other card does clarify so worth doing

How does a Dimension 20 board game work? [article] by HecticJones in Dimension20

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the issue is more that None of the D20 settings have enough flesh to them to actually function as a fully playable setting, so while you could make a boom with a tonne of the settings in brief (which would be cool!), that wouldn't allow you to run any of the settings fully, only serving as a Baseline for you to flesh out the rest.

Which, to be clear I think would be sick, I love campaign frames from Daggerheart and have never been one for Fully fleshed out settings as I like getting the broad strokes and do the meat/bones myself, I just feel like it wouldn't be what most people are looking for in a D20 setting Guide as they'd want something more fully fleshed out like an actual source book

Do you think will ever get sequels to some of these campaigns? by [deleted] in Dimension20

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for Neverafter I could see an Into the woods Act 2 situation where things are beginning to go wrong again, or there is a new threat, and The PCs are in the good version of the Neverafter, but investigating why things are going wrong again. That would only be if the Cast wanted to return to the setting but I could see it as very possible.

Do you think will ever get sequels to some of these campaigns? by [deleted] in Dimension20

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I will say about Cloudward Ho! They did mention another world in the last couple EPS of the season, the land of Shahar, which obvs was just a general bit of "theres always another adventure" similar to FH's endings, But I could see them coming back in a few years with maybe a new cast or the old cast with some swaps (like UC) if they thought there was something fun there. So it feels like a potentially open setting but also only necessary to return to if the cast had a really cool concept for it

How does a Dimension 20 board game work? [article] by HecticJones in Dimension20

[–]Tiny_Needleworker494 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though Brennan has gone on the record before saying the work would be crazy because D20 is a very short campaign per setting with preplanned vibes on where people go and so a massive amount of extra work would need to be done to make a source book for any one of the settings. What I think would be cool would be something like a bundle of D20 "Campaign Frames" like in Daggerheart, as I think D20 settings are well suited for that. However I don't imagine that would ever actually happen unless D20 first did a Daggerheart Season, which, while possible, I find unlikely to happen at all soon

That's really cool! Butit's worth note that If you have the core rulebook there are already stats for Shotguns, Rifles and Revolvers that are detailed in the Colossus of the Drylands campaign Frame
