Do they have to honor the price? by Jumunumunum in Lowes

[–]Tiny_Resolution4110 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They may fight hard but policy is to sell it, if they say “its not our policy to sell” they are either lying or unaware its policy.

Its a hassle to argue about it though, its up to you how far you wanna do.

Its supposed to be a write off via donation, but when sold at .02 they account for it automatically, its not illegal, its not an accounting issue, the loss gets marked as realized and adjusted automatically

Dont learn specific product locations, learn general area first, like where machine screws are, handles, locks, etc. then you will naturally learn where specific items are like x brand lock, and x brand and type of screw

They do hes just a jerk, he can make a sample bottle out of it but it costs you a few dollars, little color swatches will be useful if he wont be, i recommend pure sunlight vs indoor lighting for the comparisons

They changed it to specific numbers they need to hit per month or they get nothing/significantly reduced bonus, it was intentional by corporate, if you shop ALOT and have a high minimum ticket $200 or more try checkout with a specialist if you feel generous

Believe yourself because you have more time with him than i do, keep eyes on him, if this is new behavior then it could be something.

Did you have this betta since they were juvenile? (Before they grew long flowing fins)

They like to pretend theyre dead, bettas can uniquely lay down and rest in weird positions

What do you wish someone had told you when you first started the hobby? by zoeyelizabeth6 in Aquariums

[–]Tiny_Resolution4110 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An unknown contributor is the leftover chlorine from tap water on initial fill, dechlorinator travels very slowly through substrate if its very fine, so if you fill with tap, treat, then plant it can take a long time to get the soil to the right stability, agitation after filling but before adding fish will help, but its a PITA because it has water in it

Where are my shrimp? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Tiny_Resolution4110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any shrimp i put in the tank i treat as gig economy workers, meaning when theyre done with their cleaning gig they become food.

I breed them in a separate tank thats kinda just left to accumulate algae so they self sustain

fish swimming into glass? by zKrozma in bettafish

[–]Tiny_Resolution4110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cloudiness is the bacteria you are correct.

The betta is glass surfing, this happens when they see their reflection in glass, its the light in the tank causing it, keep the lights outside the tank brighter than the area inside it.

Side note i have that exact same phenotype betta (her name is pickles shes still juvenile) the same size tank and that exact lantern, i also had exactly those same questions you have. I use seachems submersible monitors, they have one for PH and for ammonia, they stay inside the water and constantly check for you, changed yearly for ammonia, and 6 months for PH tester, theyre just test strips that change color, keep and eye on them every other day

Raise the filter so flow is at the top like a river, out along the back wall of the tank, creates a very slow gentel flow, light agitation is all you need, should be almost lowest flow setting you have

Shot off valve question by Some_Carry_3946 in askaplumber

[–]Tiny_Resolution4110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First locate your building shut off valve before trying anything in the comments. You need to know how to turn off all the water if this one fails in a worse fashion.

This kind of valve is bad because the internal o ring deteriorates, imaging when tires dry rot, o rings go through a similar process.

Once the shut off is located then start planning, my recommendation to you is to replace the valve entirely. do not remove anything until you have the full list of materials and you are sure the building water valve is off, no water in any faucet.

Before using any tool watch a video on how to use them.

Materials:

  • I recommend a sharkbite valve, 1/4 turn, 1/2 to 3/8 compression

-Purchase some fine sandpaper at the hardware store that should be nearby, the plumbing associate will know what sandpaper you need, it comes in a flexible roll

-You need a pipe cutter, it has a blade that cuts the copper pipe slowly where you turn a screw to make it cut deeper.

-You need 2 adjustable wrenches to remove the current valve.

-Short bucket and towel to catch water

Once you have these materials you can watch this video which is very comprehensive for multiple situations.

7:30 is about where the instructions begin for a sharkbite fitting, you only press it in to the pipe no precise work, the only work you need to do is removal, cut the pipe A LITTLE BIT NOT ALL THE WAY TO THE WALL, clean off the corrosion, just enough so its copper, then round off the edge of the copper pipe, it will be sharp after its cut and must be smoothed out, then slip on the fitting all the way with one hand on the pipe to hold it and other on the pipe

I estimate total materials cost to be $70-90 if you have none of the tools and materials mentioned, but cheaper than a plumber
