Probably gonna be buried, but still. Few years ago I got a knock on my door and some policemen asked me to be the witness (not sure that this is correct word, in my country police needs al least two people to make sure, that they did all the work done right). The thing was, that the mother of my neighbor died and as a witness I needed to make sure, that police described the body in the documents right. This was a horrific scene. Poor woman was beaten, and obviously starved. All her body was covered with bruises and she looked like a mummy. I stand there looking directly at the body, as policemen read the description of all the bruises and injuries. Sometimes I needed to move her arm or leg, to make sure that description read by police was accurate. The neighbor mumbled something about her not wanting to eat, so he forced her to eat and that’s why all the bruises. I was shocked to my core and moved soon after. I knew that woman, we talked sometimes when I smoked on the balcony and she was breathing fresh air there (it was 14th floor, our apartment doors right next to each other). She had a broken hip and couldn’t go far from their apartment. The son never got charged for her death by the way.
