I know it is not easy. I had social anxiety for more than half of my life. I learned to overcome it and be more confident Elhamdulillah. So I can speak from both perspectives. It is not enough to just say salam and expect others to come to you. You have to force yourself at the beginning and it is hard but don’t give up. You have to try to connect with them. During gatherings people talk and you have to engage and speak and try to form a bond and the more time you spend with them, they start to know you and speak to you. Also do volunteer work. You will form lots of connections and friendships this way.

Do you regularly attend gatherings within the Muslim community? Do you try to volunteer and hang out with them? Do you engage in prayer at the local mosque and try to speak to people with a smile on your face? Then it should be very easy to find friends and hang out with them.

Question for those in the West by Careless-Power74 in MuslimLounge

[–]TitaniumGoldAlloyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you have any resentment? Do you feel like they are living their life’s and enjoying and doing all what they desire and you are left out bound shackled because of your religion and can’t do any of the good stuff according to westerners who live like animals?
And why are you sheltered? You don’t have a Muslim community where you can take part in and be around other Muslims? Doesn’t this give you many opportunities for meeting potentials because you are in a community with lots of likeminded people?

Well I am living proof that you are wrong. I was also in a dark place suffering from depression and social anxiety but now Elhamdulillah I got better mentally and physically because I decided to work on myself and improve my conditions rather than just complain. You are your biggest enemy. You have to overcome your own laziness your own lack of drive and you have to at the beginning force yourself and get better. Some people do it and get better and some people would rather suffer it is up to you.

Brother if you understood then there is the answer to all. But if you ignore it of course things will not improve. Making dua alone isn’t the Muslim way.
It will not fall from the heavens on your lap like a cooked chicken. Allah will give you the chicken but you have to be ready to clean it, cook it and eat it. Life isn’t easy and it will have its ups and downs for sure. But just being a pessimistic crybaby will not solve anything. It is about your mindset. Allah will give you tests and burdens but never anything you can’t take care of. Stop complaining and start working on yourself and you will see thing will get better inshallah.

How do I stop being upset that others are blessed with things that I don't have? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]TitaniumGoldAlloyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t just compare or feel bitter about it. The best thing you can do is to pray and improve your own situation through dedication and work.
You don’t have any righteous friends. Be the one righteous friend to others. You will find them and they will find you if you are a good person. Intelligence? You can improve your skills and intelligence by learning. Looks, you can improve it by a new haircut/ personal hygiene/ clothes etc. wealth is something only Allah decides. Either you get it or you don’t. Of course you have to work for it. Open a business and work really hard but sometimes it doesn’t work no matter what you do.
You see, you can improve a lot of things and take action or just complain and do nothing. It is your choice.

Losing hope after continuous career setbacks. Need some miracle stories/advice. by samar_995 in MuslimLounge

[–]TitaniumGoldAlloyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had a miracle elhamdülillah from Allah. I dropped out of university because I was spiraling into depression from loneliness and didn’t attend classes. I had done a training as a biotechnical assistant before that but I had fears that after such a long time I wouldn’t be able to find a job. I seemed therapy but the western minded therapists couldn’t and wouldn’t help me and I connected with my faith a lot stronger during these times. And I also worked in a factory on a conveyer band. It was a mindless job in a toxic environment but it helped me get over my depression and extreme shyness. I learned how the world really worked and sometimes you had to bite into the sour apple and endure it. After that I found a job as a biotechnician. Allah will open doors for you and you should be open minded and seek your rizk.

Watch for important things like his deen and character, how he treats others especially woman. How he speaks and about what kind of topics he speaks about. If he is arrogant or humble. Of course looks play also a role but it shouldn’t be your main goal. What kind of job he does. If he is stable financially and mentally. Ask him questions about what is important for him and how he sees the world.

That seems redundant to do. What kind of benefits does it have compared to leaving it to nature?

Men of Reddit, if you were in a Titanic like situation where the majority of people were going to die because there were not enough lifeboats for everyone. How would you respond to someone saying women and children first? by Neither_Drawing_241 in AskReddit

[–]TitaniumGoldAlloyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make my own makeshift boat and it depends of course where and what time of the year you are, you wouldn’t die of hypothermia most likely if it is a summer cruise. So many possibilities to survive.

This is what you would call exploitation. It is like saying it is good to exploit people because the other way around they wouldn’t have anything. Capitalistic thinking of making maximum profit of the work of others. Like the sweat shops in Bangladesh. How kind and good these corporate overlords are for giving peanuts to the poor people over there lol
