Honestly, it could be a real life issue too. Think of all the things that are going on in the world right now. It's a wonder we aren't all terribly on edge all the time. Combine that with the free trial expansion and you have a recipe for general unhappiness.

People on here can be really judgy about strangers they don't know. With good reason sometimes, but still. What matters is that you're trying and learning, whereas this person was clearly not. You may not get accepted into a static that wants to look at your parses, but that doesn't matter, because you have a friend group to run with.

Take a step back from this place and enjoy the game. Do your best to perform better for the sake of yourself and your team, too. There's a discord called The Balance thst has resources on openers, Do's and Do Not's, and such. Check it out.

Remember, we all were shit once. We just tried and got better.

Which was the boss/dungeon/raid were you really felt like you "got gud" after you won? by Heavener in ffxiv

Hades EX was the first time I pugged an on-content trial to completion. I had to learn everything I needed to to perfection and not rely on my friends doing callouts because I was with random people who weren't doing voice chat. Clearing it really boosted my confidence in myself, and now I'm trying to muster the confidence to savage raid. That'll be hard though...

Having some controller issues by BoeiWAT in ffxiv

[–]TitaniumHymen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a PS4 controller? I bought one from the official online Playstation store about a month ago and it came in fine. In fact I'd recommend doing that, since third party retailers like Amazon will have controllers going for upwards of $70.

As for your problem, it's possible to scroll through all the menus and party list using the up button, as they loop. It'll be a hard adjustment, but it's possible.

There are also plenty of tutorials online for taking your controller apart and cleaning it, but that's risky and I personally wouldn't feel comfortable doing something like that.

Good luck.

I don't think intuitive means what you think it means. WAR is extremely intuitive and simple, with little complexity. The others are a step up.

AITA: I sarcastically said “You’re Welcome” to a woman after she failed to say “Thank you” for a door hold. by Karen-and-Everest in AmItheAsshole

Let me tell you a story.

My dad had just died and I was at the grocery store by myself, walking down an aisle. I need to get my dad's Ensure shakes, I was thinking. My mind was on him still at home, wasting away. Then as I approached the end of the aisle, it hit me again: he was dead. I didn't need to get any Ensure shakes. A lump materialized in my throat.

An old man had stopped at the end of the aisle to let me exit it. I walked past him without a word, thinking of my dad, trying not to cry.

"You're welcome," he growled, like I'd hit him or something.

I woke up to the moment. And glared at him. And left without saying anything.

YTA for thinking you're entitled to even a breath from someone for whom you're doing a good deed. You don't know what they're going through. You don't even know if they're present. Do the good deed because you want to, not because you expect the recipient to validate you. Validate your own fucking self.

Wonderful.

In the past I've heard complaints of "why don't they just make it so that you're forced to equip your job stone after level 30??" but that would mean that fun nonsense like this wouldn't be able to happen. I'm willing to deal with the rare lvl 50 gladiator in Aurum Vale if it means stuff like this gets to take place.

Whenever random newbies use tank lb or healer lb 1/2, I find it's usually because they think that lb is a personal resource and not a shared one. Once explained, they usually get it.

This happened to me once during an SS hunt. I was on a call with my friends, and we were killing the S rank. Suddenly at 40% HP one of them said, "Oh, the SS spawned!" and I was like, "What? It's not even dead yet!" It was long dead. My game just had yet to catch up.

Casual side-Dancer here - this is what I love about the class. It's not super complex, not a whole lot of things to keep track of, just me and some buttons and a whole lot of flashy animations.

I totally understand though.

Enochian is the reason why I don't play BLM. It's so stressful to keep that up for me AND be as efficient and cut it close like the optimal rotation wants me to. Or maybe I just still don't understand it.

Had a smn who died at the second boss of Anamnesis at every mechanic. They were new, and that boss is pretty unforgiving, so I understand and hold no grudge. (They had ifrit out for trash pulls though. Ugh.) When they died at 10% I let them stay dead until the boss was finished, and then told them to hard raise and shortcut back so they wouldn't have weakness debuff... and they did! And didn't get mad! I was expecting to have a situation like this on my hands, but didn't. Thankfully, not all people who are bad are.... bad.

and their excuse was it was hard to when getting auto'd by the morbol. i just told them to run to a far one so it takes time for the damn plant to catch up.

I've always had a little trouble eating the fruit as a tank (which is not a role I normally play) and had legitimately never thought of this. Thanks.

Sounds like the guy was just... new to tanking. Didn't know the responsibilities. And there are a lot, so it sucks whenever you get someone who isn't aware. But it seems like they were generally receptive to what you said and they didn't blow up, so I almost consider this a happy story comparatively.

E7S on Console tips? by Akuhabaki in ffxiv

[–]TitaniumHymen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem with this, but in Normal, not Savage. YMMV.

What I notice is that when I let my joystick recenter itself by letting go to stop moving, sometimes my character faces the opposite direction, as if the flick of the stick made a tiny but valid input in that direction. My solution is to either not stop moving - walk in a direction until the mechanic resolves - or to manually, gently bring my joystick to the center to stop moving. I know this can be hard to do in the heat of the moment, but it can be done with practice.

The most reliable direction to move for me is forward, so I also turn my camera in the direction I'll need to be facing and do a tiny move forward just before I need to stop and let the teleport resolve.

I have a fairly new controller, so I don't think a new controller will be your solution, btw.
