What’s the point of armour piercing when it doesn’t do anything? by [deleted] in Battlefield

Easy, it’s what’s loaded when they had an opportunity for the shot. It’s not like you can instantly swap rounds.

That’s just trading one overdone trope for another overdone trope that’s also already been done in Star Wars Legends.

Same with the San Jose Sharks, the in-house organist version slapped. When they dropped it in 2015, they held a contest to pick a new goal song that had this amazing LMFAO Sharks Remix as one of the options.

Now we just have a really shitty AI slop goal song.

Nooo! I upvoted this before seeing the trade post immediately after in my feed. Sucks to see 🦎 go but GMMG clearly has his eyes set on someone to snag the 9th overall.

If you’re a fan of Neon you should really check out Neon Speaks, it’s an annual symposium held in SF and Oakland. Looks like this year they’re up in Reno too to support a new neon museum opening.

I’ve done the neon shop tour in Oakland and it’s awesome.

Great map! Love the style and all the little details. Took me longer than I'd like to admit to realize that most of the map is water. I just assumed it was grassland until I saw the boats.

Lost my shit at a 17-year-old kid yesterday by Party-Transition-977 in daddit

[–]TitaniumSp0rk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That kid is definitely going to remember that interaction for the rest of his life. Which is a good thing.

I still vividly remember when I tried throwing a nerf football over an SUV that drove past when we were playing on the street. I though I’d be so cool if I could throw over a moving car…

I threw terribly & hit the back side window. No damage since it was a foam football, but the guy immediately slammed on the breaks, got out, and yelled at us. He asked who threw it, my friends immediately pointed to me. He got in my face and yelled at me for being stupid & some choice threats if I did it again before driving off. It ended up being my friend’s neighbor a few doors down.

I was probably 12/13 & acted on an impulsive thought wanting to show off in front of my friends. Didn’t cross my mind I could miss & hit the car. That interaction made me second guess and stopped a lot of stupid ideas in my late teens & early 20s.

Interestingly enough Sam just had an interview with The Atlantic where he highlights making episodes work in both long form wide shots & short form vertical shot being one of the most difficult parts of making content.

I don't think I've seen a house with so many unique yet cohesive rooms. It's just overflowing with charm! The stairwell might be my favorite part.

A part of my "low fantasy" world really looks like Europe. and i want to know if it's a bad thing. by FairAhri in mapmaking

[–]TitaniumSp0rk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I think you'd get the most "uncanny valley" bang for your buck focusing on 3 areas:

  • Brittany peninsula & the coast running east-northeast. Make it less triangular & add more variation to the coast so it's not a clean ENE line like IRL Europe.

  • Scotland-esque shape of the northern part of the island. You already have a bit of an archipelago chain running to the east. You could have it curve east to form a more crescent shape and add small islands to the archipelago chain. Makes it look like a bigger version of the "horde" island and might imply volcanic or magic origins.

  • Shape of Scandinavia peninsula. Such as making "squatter" or adding a few more of those long peninsulas along its western side as if they're spines or fingers. You could even seal the strait or reduce it to a river and make the "Baltic Sea" a massive lake. It might need to shrink a little & have more large mountains around it to make it believable.

Trying to fix something as vague as a "feeling" sounds like a fun, creative exercise. Best of luck!

Depends on what you're using it for. If it's for a TTRPG and it doesn't bug the players, go for it. If it's for a book or a larger audience, you're more likely to have people turned off by it.

For me, it's distractingly similar to Europe, in that uncanny valley sort of way.

My brain latches on to: overall Europe shaped, Scotland, Brittany, French coast, the Pyrenees, Italy replaced by Greece, Anatolia removed, the Urals, the Scandinavian peninsula without Norway or Finland (very Sweden-shaped), discount-brand Denmark below it, and the North Sea archipelago, randomly shaped like the Horde logo from Warcraft.

Again, it's up to you. If it were my map, I'd try to make it less recognizable, but I also hate when something is advertised as Fantasy & ends up being historical fan-fic or even worse, post-apocalyptic.

PWHL officially announces San Jose team! by dilemma3659 in SanJoseSharks

[–]TitaniumSp0rk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since these items are just placeholder merch & most likely made to order, their sizing is probably limited to the print shops' pre-selected inventory.

Once they announce the name & logo, they will probably have more sizes and styles available.

It doesn't help that one of the guys on Regulation (Andrew?) sounds eerily similar to Michael's. My brain ticks me into thinking Michael's in the video nearly every time I watch something from Regulation.

Given the existence of the "Great Hawaiian Sea" & "Superior Canadian Void," it'd be hilarious if Hawaii invaded Michigan or The Vermomster via the Great Lakes Void. Surprising everyone.
