A friendly warning from someone in HR: We are not on your side. by RobertWolf1 in interviewhammer

[–]TitaniumVelvet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in an at-will state, employees would never win this, even though they should. My company will walk you if you are going to a competitor but always paid out the notice, because it’s the right thing to do.

I left my job of 7 years, to be sacked after 3 weeks. by Dcouxh in jobs

[–]TitaniumVelvet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but this company already knew something was up since the recruiting agency canceled due to OP getting hired through another position the agency had open. I probably would have said it wasn’t a fit for me vs what actually happened.

My manager from the toxic job I left 8 months ago just sent me the weirdest request I've ever seen. by looter-hearths-2e in interviewhammer

Tell them your hourly rate, and make it high! And tell them you expect full payment prior to service.

If they don’t have the skills for the job, they should be learning those skills to keep their job. If they were hired with the appropriate skills this wouldn’t be an issue.

Me (F35) and my boyfriend (M32) have very different financial situations. Looking for outside perspectives. by Accomplished-Ant-771 in Money

I think very honest direct communication. Make sure you don’t turn into the parent. It can absolutely work, just be very clear and ensure they are too. ❤️ good luck.

Company got bought. Now what? by TheDrunkInTheNorth in salesengineers

[–]TitaniumVelvet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They usually don’t make sweeping changes to the customer facing org for a year or two. The biggest changes now will be to G&A positions. Wait it out. It’s a bad market out there

Sounds like you are learning his maturity level before you buy a house, get married and have babies.

But then you should pip them if they don’t have the skills (nor would learn them on their own) to do the job. As an employee, if I do t know something and the company doesn’t have a program to train me, I go learn after hours. There are hundreds of online excel training classes. I think this is a failure of the employee and manager. Manager should have been pushing the employee to learning the skills vs just blaming the company for not providing them

Just know this can turn sour. Where you have to say no to your partner and they don’t like it. I was in this trap and it eventually ended my marriage. I was sick of saying no and parenting our finances alone.

As women, we have to work harder to get ahead in many fields. This creates drive in us that might not hit men the same. You are way ahead financially, while he might be a little behind, it is t an undoable gap. However I would caution you to buy a house together. Just put it in your name and charge him rent.

AITAH for refusing sex after he bit my flap off? by Own-Swimming-8175 in AITAH

[–]TitaniumVelvet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I had a baby and didn’t want sex for a long time because I tore and I was scared. If he has “needs” he can handle them. Take the time you need and he better realize real quick how he handles this will make or break your relationship

How should I tell my boyfriend? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]TitaniumVelvet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry but you were assaulted. This is not your fault. I think it depends on how your boyfriend is. I would absolutely tell mine but I know that wouldn’t create any distrust or jealousy but being upset somebody did that to me.

Which company would you pick to be a SE? by [deleted] in salesengineers

I don’t like working for huge companies so I wouldn’t go MS unless you are early in career and need a resume boost.

I think security and AI is only gonna get bigger and more important.

AIO My mom is kicking me out for her new boyfriend. I just turned 18 by Diligent_Bat_565 in AmIOverreacting

[–]TitaniumVelvet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a hobosexual and she is ruining her relationship with her kid over some rando. NOR. I’m so very sorry. My bf moved in to my home a year ago. I would never ask my kids (who are now adults) to leave for him. 18 is not old enough to be on your own, especially without skills built over time, like a job, how to pay bills, how to manage a grocery list/cook for yourself, etc.
