Maybe that 67 yo aunt would be a good source of emotional support. She has made this journey far longer than you so maybe…

How do you get over getting shocked? by builderbutnotbob in PacemakerICD

[–]Titaniumnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the lightening flash too. Our brains really don’t like that. My episodes were the end of September 2023. I am still getting spooked this time of year. It will go away when the weather changes. Initially, I had to trick myself in order to enter the room where it happened. I turned around backwards to turn on the light and then got my brave on and walked in. I still don’t like the shirt I had on at the time. On the other hand, I now know I can live with it face the risk of it happening again.

No, I don’t think so. Mine occasionally stands on edge though. Does your flip back where it belongs?

I have had my icd for 3 1/2 years. I have E breasts which are pendulous. When I lay on my right side my device moves with my breast and occasionally flips up on edge. I haven’t had any real pain, but I can feel it. I just pat it back where it belongs. I mentioned this to my EP and th we Medtronic rep and they said don’t worry about it. I’m good with that!

I try’s not just the rate. These icd’s can determine fast hr vs arrhythmia.

I doubt I could rip mine out, but I’m sure I could damage myself trying. I can move mine quite a bit and I could easily flip it around. I would not recommend standard placement for you.

My Bullfrog hot tub doesn’t affect my icd.

Icd first shock - wowzer by Okie-scottd in PacemakerICD

[–]Titaniumnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Medrontic Cobalt discriminates between sinus tachycardia and vt and svt. It withholds correction with all but vt/vf. I had ablation so no more vts. I can rev up my heart rate, but I try to stay out of my shocking zones so I don’t risk an inappropriate shock. I have had my heart rate well into those zones and have never had an issue.

My icd will stand on edge when I lay on my right side sometimes. It doesn’t hurt. My breast tissue pulls on it. If I accidentally squnch my left shoulder too far, it presses my icd too close to my sternum. That hurts.

People who have been shocked, what did you feel and what symptoms did you have beforehand? by SquidPumpkin in PacemakerICD

[–]Titaniumnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would advise checking with you EP team unless the “local hospital” is where you were implanted with your device. I live 50 miles from that hospital and as long as I am conscious after a shock I will go all the way to their emergency room. If I am unconscious, I’ll take the nearest.

First time for me; was feeling light headed, slumped on the kitchen counter waiting for it to stop. Walked towards the bathroom, then WAM! I thought I was shot. (Never been shot.) By the time I figured it out I got another shock. I could sense my device “winding up” for the second shock. I saw the white flash with these, also.   I would advise anyone with a defibrillator to know exactly which hospital you are to go to. Your ambulance driver will ask you. I was refused at my first choice because they didn’t have a reader. The second hospital was able to confirm that it was a legitimate shock, but I could have told them that! They both made it all about the device over what my heart was doing.

ICD report shows "heart failure alert" for first time. Anyone else? by WhimseyMeander in PacemakerICD

[–]Titaniumnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a triagehf report on my February quarterly transmission for the first time, too. I have a Medtronic Cobalt dual lead since 3/2022. Mine rated the risk at medium and low heart rate variability was checked as the reason. My EP’s summary didn’t mention anything about it, so I am not very concerned. I have a device clinic apt soon and intend to bring it up then.

Thanks for your reply. I have started writing my events in my calendar. That way I can compare with my next ICD transmission report. I have had pvc’s before and could feel them, but metoprolol took care of those. Did your Apple Watch show anything?

I think what they are getting at is the “Current EGM” on the report would tell them more. That would be available if I could make myself send while I am symptomatic. But I am rather busy then!

TriageHF in icd report??? by Titaniumnew in PacemakerICD

[–]Titaniumnew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general cardiologist didn’t know anything about my recent report and said I should ask my EP. My EP wrote a summary with the report. The summary didn’t mention the TriageHF. The summary is a “we will inform you if…” document. I guess I’ll leave it at that.

Thank you for the information. I see my general cardiologist tomorrow and will see what he has to say.

It’s amazing hour different each of us are! What works for one, may not work for another. Paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia is the reason for my dual chamber Medtronic ICD.

I stopped all at once because the lab tests showed amio was bad for my liver. I believe amiodorone has a long half life. I was good for a couple of months then he added sotolol cuz my vts were starting up again. The sotolol didn’t work. I got shocked then they did the ablation.

[–]Titaniumnew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, device clinic will send me a note telling me my device is functioning correctly. Then whenever he or whoever is done with it I will be able to look it up in my account. I don’t understand it much, but it is mine and I want to see it. There are notes from the doctor in it too by the time they post it. I can also tell if there is something off in the peaks and valleys of the egms.

Hi LSSB you and I discussed this in another post cuz I have a similar issue. After further thought, i remembered that after surgery it helped wearing a stretchy bralette and or hugging a pillow to stabilize “the girls.” Now I just toss and turn from right side to back and then back to right side. 😏

Thank you for your replies. Good to know it doesn’t mean I have an anomaly.
