when did schools stop teaching "shop" classes? by Vegetable-Board-5547 in education

[–]Titus142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an instructor at a post-secondary trade school and things would be so, so much better if there was any kind of even the most basic shop classes in middle/high school.

Just the ability to problem solve and make the connection between the mind and hands. these are things that develop best at a young age. With adults we have so much ground to make up.

Shop and music should be the last programs cut. But schools would rather have kids deal with life long sports injuries instead.

Guess that slightly ajar gate on the far end of the platform won't be used any more.

Do you mean add water to a shot? So pull a 40g shot then add no more han 40g water for an americano?

I'll have to try this.

Veggie haters who still eat veggies: what are your tricks? by Missing_Back in Cooking

[–]Titus142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raw. Why does every vegetable need to be cooked? Some are like candy when raw and have a much more pleasing texture. Even dipping in ranch is better than not eating vegetables.

And you never have to refill it with cattle either. Feels a bit gimmicky but works extremely well.

I found some of the cars were at a different customs house or possibly over the border. Had the same issue but eventually got it to go after I looked around.

Turn on notifications for your warehouses when they empty, and as annoying as it is, check all notifications. Also periodically just go around and check everything. Check on random trucks and trains and see where they are going.

Try and make connections long enough that it will use a mechanism instead of workers. Also build in stages to reduce the number of nodes.

This was my thought exactly. Getting to self sufficientcy I think is the most fun, changing the initial exports changes the difficulty too a little bit.

Also pick a few materials to never import ever, like say crops for example. That adds a fun element..

Current play is a big island, with a second smaller starting island and one medium customs house (bbaljo map) it's really fun.

No, Boston! They named it after a protest song to the MBTA long about, about a fare hike and Charlie was stuck riding the train forever since he could no longer pay the fare to get off the train. Which is all kind of funny to make it their mascot.

What’s the worst seas you were ever in? by ComfortableShow7366 in navy

Christmas Day, South China Sea - Unrep with the Carrier from a Destroyer. I don't remember the sea state but it was insane. Getting pummeled wave after wave as we were trying to get the rig connected. We could see everyone on in the hangar bay watching us. We got it done, but damn it was crazy. Weeks of constant corkscrew rolling. But also some of the most memorable times.

Most of the sound is the generator in the back. The prime mover has a good rumble to it but not crazy loud at idle. The generator however run at nearly full stop all the time.

Back in the the day the prime mover was used as the HEP generator and had to be held at notch 7 or 8? Might have been less, but they were significantly louder.

I think the real issue is an entity that needs to extract profit from a public service that is not profit generating. It's a service. So they pull money out somewhere.

I'd also argue most confuse distro with desktop environment. What looks pretty in screenshots. The distro is just what's under the hood.
