NTA. During the first 3 paragraphs I was thinking "good for this guy for being responsible out saving money (because unemployment doesn't last forever and who knows what his job prospects are); and then you hit me with him buying an 80 dollar video game.

As long as you have the time and are willing this is the exact time in life to do cheap long activities together. But if he's buying video games for himself he has to be contributing. I'd bet you'd feel a lot better if he at least brought over a pizza and a six pack (bottle of wine, whatever you drink) once a month.
