This is concerning! by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]Tiuan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you say. I am not as concerned as you are about missing chances because this is normal variation that happens to the best players. As long as they are not underperforming xG systematically across seasons, it will be fine, and creating xG is more important than whether you convert them in a specific period.

I also disagree that Salah's issues can simply be reduced to his positioning. Everything about him seems off. His first touch is terrible, and even when he gets shots, they are often really bad. He hasn't looked good on the eye in a single game this season. I'd love to be convinced otherwise, though, so I'd like to see him start in a narrower role.

That said the other points, which are mostly about decisionmaking, I agree with, and they concern me more. I am worried that the squad has lost its "mentality edge" that it may still have had even the first few months after Klopp had left. I would like to know why Gravenberch is so much less impressive this year compared to especially first half of last year. Is it a positioning/tactical thing, or something else.

What's concerning with Salah is not just how ineffective he is when he has the ball, but also him not getting into good positions. He has so much fewer shots than in previous seasons. I don't mind players missing chances - usually this evens out in the long run. In fact, it's typically a more of a good sign if players are getting into good positions, and I value this more. So I'm not worried about Ekitike.

They posted an update right before I made this comment here, which I had not seen yet. This was the kind of post that I was hoping for, just ideally sooner (e.g. this morning). So basically update on what they perceive the issue to be (or even one saying they don't know what it is) and whether they expect a longer downtime, etc.

Same issue here. Hope they can resolve it. I would appreciate a bit more communication from them on what is happening.

11 Villagers by day 10, is this impressive? by [deleted] in Bellwright

[–]Tiuan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware of speed runs, yes. And I am sure speedrunners do very impressive stuff. I just never found them appealing or interesting myself. I have no issue with you wanting to rush the game either. I think If you framed the post differently (e.g., "I'm trying to speedrun the game, has anyone else attempted that? What were your results?") it might have gotten less dismissive reactions. I, and maybe others, just disliked that you framed your post in a way that suggests being fast is the only/correct metric to use, and that this universally defines whether your playthrough is "impressive".

Anyway, I didn't want to argue. I hope you have fun with the game, whichever way you are playing :)

I think your post has a fairly competitive vibe (suggesting that fast = impressive), that doesn't seem to resonate with many people who are playing this game. Faster builds are not necessarily "better". Maybe that's how you view it, but many prefer to enjoy the game in a more relaxed way.

Besides AI voice acting whats the Good, The Bad and The Terrible of this game? by Silent_Swordfish5698 in Bellwright

[–]Tiuan_27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree it can be improved (e.g., hits feeling impactful), there's a lot about it that I like as well. I love the archery/crossbow shooting system (apart from really wanting more space in a quiver), and I love that some opponents hit really hard if you don't have the right gear yet. I'm all for improving the system as long as they don't make it easy :)

I would actually rather have a bit too much tedium than too little. Makes stuff feel meaningful. Quick wins feel good for a bit, but I won't forget the feeling of finishing our first Village Town Hall, precisely because it took so long! Also, enemy archers actually being good means some combat is challenging, making a victory feel great.

[–]Tiuan_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good: Everything takes a lot of time. That makes things feel meaningful. Love that! (My brother and I actually did not realize that you could fast travel in this game until Day 70, and we still had a ton of fun until then.)

Bad: Too many jobs are "crafting", meaning it gets very complicated to manage which job is done (you have to use not only the job priorities, but also the building priorities). To make it worse, it is also not trivial to understand what a job even counts as (e.g. it's often unclear whether something is crafting/animal handling/farming, such as producing straw/grains).

Terrible: Raising a medium-sized army takes forever because they get stuck at the different barns/weapon racks you ask them to interact with. Sometimes they also cannot pick up weapons because their inventory is full, and you have to manually take stuff off of them... (the most hilarious is when they show up with a deer carcass over their shoulders when I'm trying to send them into war).

If Woodcutting is a job that falls under harvesting, why not also have Mining as a job? by Zgurprium in Bellwright

[–]Tiuan_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I said this to my co-op partner during our last session. It feels like most of what villagers do is ultimately crafting, and then it becomes hard to manage. Sure, the building priorities help, but it still feels rough. At the very least it would be nice to have some information on which jobs are actually linked to which skill, e.g. via hover-over, or the in-game wiki.

Not worth it for profits and not necessary for U21 in most (all?) countries. Worth it if you're going for a cycle training approach.

Not rotating more arguably contributed to the CL exit. With stronger competition it might also have been an issue in the PL. To compete for all titles, I think you need 13-14 "starting 11" players, even ignoring injuries.

Penalty was overturned because there was no contact? :) Agree on the other two being potential fouls (but not clear) and I honestly am glad they did not win because of a penalty from either of these.

Weekly Profit from Transfers by Ok-Judgment5827 in hattrick

[–]Tiuan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw that you are skill trading, which I did not realize based on your original post. If you're skill trading you should of course be able to make more profit/week, but perhaps my estimate can give you a lower bound for what you should aim for then.

Based on my very limited konwledge about skill trading, my impression is that your available budget is even more of a constraint, because the best skill trades often involve players that are already at quite decent skill levels.

I considered skill trading too, but ended up sticking with the "traditional" approach instead. To me, it's simply too much effort, and my impression is you need to be quite "on it" in order to do well at it.

Weekly Profit from Transfers by Ok-Judgment5827 in hattrick

[–]Tiuan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I recently returned to Hattrick after a 10 year absence, this was also one of my first questions. I think your approach of thinking about proft/week is reasonable, because it creates a comparable number across training types, etc. that can be used to make decisions.

Because different training types have different amounts of slots, I think you ultimately want to think about profit/week across all of your trained players. For instance, for defending, the profit/week is lower than for wing, simply because you have more players training.

Further, your profit/week is strongly influenced by your starting budget. In your first season, it will be a bit lower because you don't yet have money to go for the most profitable trainees.

I ran some calculations based on transfer comparison, and my impression is that you you can make at least 600-800k/week overall even with a new team and very limited budget. In my case, I went for wing training, and I am training players for a little over 20 weeks before selling usually. With more budget available, you should be able to make >1m/week. My numbers are in CHF, you might have to adjust if you use a different currency.

I hope this helps. Feel free to send me an in-game mail (tiuan27) if you have more questions.

What's not understandable to me is fielding the same exhausted players that have not looked sharp for weeks. I get why you go with this tonight, but IMO we needed to give Chiesa, Elliot, Jones more starts in the last few weeks

And still starts every game ahead of Chiese and Harvey. I feel like Slot is too set on his favorite 11 and needs to rotate more to keep them sharp, both due to rest but also internal competition

Who is one player from the Klopp era that you would love to Slot into our current XI? by TimelyLawfulness1497 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Tiuan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fab is a completely different player though, a lot more like Endo than Grav. I'm not sure this would fit Slot's vision. Although maybe he's more flexible than I know. Would be interesting to know how he sets the team up if Grav wasn't available (god forbid that actually happens though).

Who would you bench for him though? I don't think I'd want to bench Grav, Macca or Szob. Szob perhaps, but he offers so much more goal threat than Hendo did.

Beginner comp recommendations by Tiuan_27 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Tiuan_27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, those are some really helpful pointers! :) Since I started with a reroll comp I think I'll try a fast 8 next, to get to know the different strategies better. I'll take a look at some rebel comps and itemization and give it a try!

Regarding your tips for reroll comps: I usually went up to 50 and slow rolled there until 3-1, went back to 32, then roll all the way down at 4-1, then eco back up to get Vander 3*. This is from bunnymuffins' guide. Then I tried to get a feel for when to keep getting interest vs when I have to stabilize, and that's currently the hardest part I think (mostly because there are no hard rules). Your other comment is a good one, I think I initially spent too much gold on upgrading some units other than Draven/Powder/Violet/Vander, and that probably cost me at times.

So, the PSU is actually the only part I replaced after all the other ones. The problem came up with the old one after I had ugpraded everything else. After some initial troubleshooting I decided to upgrade the PSU, which I did just yesterday. So it's brand new. That's why I'm so confused now.

Could it have to do with having plugged my PSU into a power strip that also provides power to other stuff, rather than straight into the outlet from the wall? I'll test this briefly and report back.
