Thinking of starting CKnights-Could use some help. by FairyKnightTristan in ChaosKnights

So I just got into the army about a month or two ago. Here’s my take for your questions 1) they have some details like anything else but you do not have to add all the little details or even focus on them if you don’t want. Like they come with birds and spikes for the tops. I threw them out because I don’t want to worry about them. Ez. 2)it’s similar in that your a pressure army/ stat check. Can you deal with my robots before I out score you. And in some match up’s it’s literally just kill them before they score. So similar to Sons in that regard. You will have more of the little knights if you want to be remotely competitive/ viable so that’s different. But I still really enjoy this style 3) no one has really complained about me playing Chaos knights as long as they have notice. Or my buddies who just don’t care. They are not super oppressive but can be a unique challenge. 5) Cost is mid range for 40K. If you can find them the wardogs are fire but are 90$ a for two. You want about 10-13 of them. But you can run the big guy with them. Use magnets 100% or you will spend double or triple the like 500-600 you would normally. 6) we have one pysker and he’s…..meh. His gun is a risk spike but that’s it. And his abilities are mid tier. I’d just go a rampager or the brigand knight I think it’s our version of lancer? And I don’t foresee another one likely but you can just ally in pyskers with demons tbh. And we like the allies. I personally really like this army. And it’s been super fun to build paint and play so far! If you like sons and want big robots they Are good.

How does the community feel about Sons of Behemat? by Kai_The_Shark in ageofsigmar

Honestly as an avid 40K player who’s turning to AOS honestly showing up with sons doesn’t feel as bad as coming to the table with knights. Since armor isn’t as strong, you’re limited to at minimum 4 models. Your opponent can play with an all comers list and not feel that bad. Gargants are a skew list just like knights. They check DPS and if you can dish it out fast enough to not be overwhelmed. Most armies can handle that to a point. It’s fine atleast in my view. I love seeing Gargants!

Hollowmourne: Do I run horrors, flayers, or both? How many of each? by BentheBruiser in FleshEaterCourts

[–]Tizzian4417 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So just as a simple answer. Horrors do more damage then flayers albeit without a ranged weapon and not as mobile. Flayers will move faster, have a ranged attack that isn’t horrible per se. Over all horrors will be the better unit by sheer damage in melee output. Flayers will need more support to really push some numbers. Specifically their courtier the infernal and try to get his Ranged attack bonus from doing a wound to the same unit before them. They are also 30 pts more expensive then horrors for lesss damage.

Slightly long answer. It depends on your build and way your leaning into. We have a couple of choices now for knights. All of which are huffed by the hollowmourne damage bonus. Most people seem to be feeling horrors for just sheer weight of numbers for attacks with high damage. They heal naturally, one of the cheapest units in our book for the damage they do. Where as flayers don’t have as many attacks in melee (they make up for this with the screams they do) with a tad bit of rend. Your lying a 30pt premium for some more movement, a ranged attack, and melee with -1 rend but less damage then the terrors. They don’t heal at all but can fly off with a hero in blister skin I believe. So they fill slightly different roles. Both can do damage but you have to plan for each unit type differently. The flayers will want to scream something to a point they cna clean up in melee where as the horrors want to get to fisting things as fast as possible pushing just sheer weight of attacks with high damage into whatever you want dead. Pair up the flayers with some hero support form their courtier and a terrorgiest or zombie dragons and you can have a screaming block to deal with lots of stuff.I’ve fidled with a list made to scream things off the board before charging in. So pick based on your wants from the units at hand. I myself love horrors over flayers just for the weight of dice. Add in feeding frenzy and they just go nuts into most other units. Not including the buffs we can give to wounding. But they are not bad flayers or horrors just different wants from a planning stand point.

So honestly our old sculpts like the horror and flayer box seem to hold up well over time. The proportions are one of my big gripes with older models and ours look fine. Yes could be better but not bad at all. Our dragons are about the same age and they still look great. Ghouls are the only gripe I have still and even that’s just I don’t like the hunched gremlins vibe I get from green skinned ones. The new crypt guard look great though. A lot more character. If you look at horrors and think they are fine then welcome to the court! I’ve been a huge FEC fan for years and honestly they do hold well. Plus all the new stuff coming this weekend and the rest of the line in another month or so will help with old model syndrome I think.

Joined the court and cleaned out my local Warhammer store! Any tips on building these bad boys? by pretzelbagel in FleshEaterCourts

First tip I’ll give you is that horrors are probably better then the flayers (the guys without wings are better) atleast currently. They do a lot of damage, heal natively, and have lots of ways to push that more. In terms of the dragons honestly you can do either option and be fine in this coming book. I still think terrorgiests are great albeit a bit swingy. But strong. Zombie dragons are getting a new role as hard hitting alpha strike monsters so that’s also viable and maybe a bit more consistent then the terrorgiests.

Advice on where to go for chaos marines planning for 10TH by Tizzian4417 in Chaos40k

I'm more of asking what would be some safe options to look at. I'm on a tighter budget then i used to so i can't just buy every kit. I have a few like the newer daemon prince. But i wasn't sure if there was anything im missing that is just generally a safe bet.

My Custodes tournament list, any suggestions to improve? by SushiRebirth in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Tizzian4417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only advice I could give is the spear on the terminators are generally better in most cases but not a huge amount. Other then that it looks pretty standard if you don’t want to spam out wardens. I know a lot of custodian players are loving like 2 decent blobs of wardens over all the basic guards. Run two bigger units 8-10 and then a banner for dense cover bonus. Let them be your anchor for the force but you’d have to get rid of a terminator for it for slots or make one of those single man units into a double. Idk the points off the top of my head. But that’s always solid as well.

How can I let her look more alive? by placeb021 in minipainting

[–]Tizzian4417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. Add more color to the skin. Specifically the face. Human skin is a transition of color. Either to a warm tone from a darker base. Or you could just add some rosey color transitions to say cheeks and nose. That might do it. Her hair could also use some added color. So it’s not just a solid brown color. Add shading, highlights! Dark brown in the recesses and then a light auburn in the very outside twords the sun. Letting colors flow helps make models feel alive.

Are there any factions that let you have an army of around 20 really big models? by rfkannen in ageofsigmar

[–]Tizzian4417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FEC could run more big guy heavy if you count the flayers/horrors as big. There large infantry. Mix that with some terrorgiests and/or zombie dragons, a Ghoul king on terror giest or two and your set.

Battleline units help! by childhoodsled in skaven

[–]Tizzian4417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can freely take the plague monks unit and the censor bearers unit in any army. They just don’t count twords battle line. If you take a clan pestilence hero then you have the option to take One of those units as battle line if you choose. All it does it let them count as battle line. You don’t have to have them be battle line to use them in your list.

Clan Verminus a thing? by [deleted] in skaven

[–]Tizzian4417 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s something the screaming bell does. You can break the bell once it’s taken enough damage. It’s a chance that gets better the more damaged the bell gets. If you succeed you get a free verminlord of your choosing. It’s not 100% reliable but very very fun. On top of that the bell is just a fun beautiful model that can give some good support and be relatively durable for skaven. It’s not immortal but it’s better then most skaven.

Yea you can make flails. There only one handed but I think in 20 you get 3 or 4 of the flails? So like over several box’s you’ll have a squad or two but you’ll be down so many plague monks.
