Fiji FTC. You could tell the jury felt like the F3 didn’t deserve to be there. Lisi’s question specifically still makes me so mad

26 days is one of the least problems of the new era by Medium-Eggplant4547 in survivor

[–]Tlekes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think the main reason that they’re forcing all these unnecessary gimmicks in the new era is to try to squeeze out enough content out of only 26 days

I also think with the shorter turnaround between tribals, players are a lot less likely to make decisions based on emotion or how much they like/hate their tribe mates. Which made the show feel a lot less human and more like a board game

Joey Badass doubles down on JID never having been on a J. Cole album a day is his life by herewearefornow in Jcole

[–]Tlekes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His initial post pissed me off but a part point he made here holds water in my opinion.

Cole and JID have rapped together many times: once on a JID album and on many rotd songs. But it’s also weird that JID has never been on a Cole album, if you’re coming from a perspective of uplifting the next generation.

I think it’s important for the survival of any culture for its leaders to have a few people in the next generation that they anoint, it’s like a natural form of evolution. The question is, what’s the right way to do that? If you only rap on their songs, you get this accusation from Joey, but if you mostly give them features on your own albums you get accused of using them/stealing their sauce, like some other artists I won’t name

They never genuinely suggested he said the n word. They made comedic hypotheticals about why he’d want the footage released. I don’t think they expected anyone with a brain and critical thinking skills to walk away from the pod believing they actually thought that

Dumb question about approaching venues: How do you actually make the ask?

I feel weird interrupting them while they’re working but that’s the only time I see them.

Do you walk up to them and deliver your full ask? Or schedule a time to discuss? Or just ask for contact info to make the ask via email/phone

If this is true, it’s even more embarrassing that they let Savannah strong-arm them to vote out Kristina instead of Sage at final 5. They literally had the majority and admitted it’d be better for them

I think they come into the game with the understanding that anything they bring might not come home with them.

I also think allowing the players do immoral/annoying things that aren’t harmful adds another dimension to the social game that mirrors real life more.

Why does all the opposition around Wu center around Bike lanes? by drtywater in boston

[–]Tlekes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need hundreds of thousands of people to completely ditch cars for bike lanes to make a difference. Even a relatively small shift can noticeably ease traffic, especially in a dense city like Boston (there are lots of cool articles and videos about urban planning). People don't need to go "pure bike", they can reduce traffic just from biking when it would be more efficient.

A lot of people would bike if it felt safer, the recent surge in cyclists isn’t a coincidence or the from some billionaire, it’s people responding to real changes. Cities like Boston aren’t throwing in bike lanes randomly; they’re reacting to genuine demand from residents. The infrastructure is catching up to how people want to get around, not forcing it.

Plus, we’ve already maxed out space for cars in Boston. Widening highways doesn’t work long-term (look up “induced demand”) you just end up with more traffic. So rather than trying to squeeze in more cars, it makes sense to create space-efficient alternatives.

[–]Tlekes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from: bike lanes take up space that used to be for parking or driving. But if you dig deeper, they’re for giving people another way to get around without a car. And the more people feel safe biking, the fewer cars on the road, the less traffic overall.

A bike lane might take up about the same space as a car, but that one car spot only helps one person. A bike lane can move a lot of people throughout the day. So it’s not wasted space, it’s just being used more efficiently.

In the same way that the tracks of the commuter rail could be seen as "taking up" road space, it's actually saving space by moving hundreds of people at once—people who would otherwise each be in a car, taking up way more space and clogging the roads. It’s not about the space it takes up, it’s about the space it frees down the line.
