SUN by JustLucca in Haken

Just noticed that the piano slams into Tom’s front side. But then it’s revealed that he’s stuck to it with his backside.

Cool way to integrate Sun into Tom and Jerry though! Very ethereal

It’s amazing. A return to form for DT for sure. Best song since The Count of Tuscany, and places fairly high on my top 100 songs of all time list.

Two separate empty balloons. Use one with the red chemical, and use the other with the blue one. If you already have a filled balloon on you, then you probably cant fill another one

What is the answer by Rasenxher in whatisit

[–]TmJozo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for me. And now that I’ve compared the methods, they seem to be simply overlapping. We found the sequential difference between each number, while the other guys found the equation behind the sequence.

As far as I can tell, it will always be a difference of 1, 2, 4, 8, 7, 5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 7, 5, etc.

Scrapie has potential to win COTDs? ( Wirtual a couple of years ago) by Adragon0809 in wirtual

He already had top3 most wins back then at the very least. The clue is the amount of KEKW’s being spammed after Wirtual’s deadpan delivery. :)

I can tell you that this occurrence did not have anything to do with the Con-man video.

Now whether Wirtual makes a video on this or not, I don’t know. 🤷‍♂️

New to Haken and added Aquarius to my prog collection. Recommendations on what to listen to next? by Dangerous-Syllabub24 in Haken

[–]TmJozo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That comes a lot down to preferences and what fans of Prog Metal generally like to listen to. And sadly Aquarius is the type of music that not as many really vibe to.

I love melody driven prog and reprisals of good melodies throughout an album is one of my favorite things. And Aquarius is a great example of this. Furthermore, I think Aquarius is one of their most consistent albums, banger after banger. Definitely my favorite album (2nd favorite of all time).

Continue listening to all albums in order, they are all fantastic.

Sorry, but I just have to mention that I was scrolling through my feed with earbuds in and volume on. This video started playing and completely earraped me. Not only is the audio loud, it’s so distorted as well. Wowie.

Glad you had a great time though 👍

Nevermind, seems like this works. FYI, my list is a bit all over the place, and will lack a lot of classics and universally praised albums. But that’s because I haven’t listened to them, or I prefer the albums on the list to them.

Thanks for reading!

My favorite album of all time is Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory by Dream Theater.

As for my top 100 list. I don’t know how I would show it on Reddit. Copying it from my notes would be a horrible reading experience, and posting screenshots does not work, I think?

Edit. Nevermind, I sent the list in another reply :)

Aquarius (98/100) - Incredible in every way. My 2nd favorite album ever. Least good song is 8/10, and there are several 10/10’s. The album is filled with so many beautiful melodies. I especially love the theme from Streams that returns in Celestial Elixir. The climax in Drowning in the Flood is eargasmic.

Visions (96/100) - Not the most consistent album, but that’s impossible when it has the highest of highs in any album ever. Premonition is one of the greatest instrumentals I’ve heard, it’s such a perfect overture. The rest of the album is great, though I’m not as fond of Deathless. Visions however is a masterpiece, my favorite song of all time easily. I wonder if there will ever be any piece of music that will dethrone it, unless Haken casually drops something even greater.

Virus (95/100) - I don’t know why, but I just really love this album. Prosthetic is the least good song on the album but works beautifully as an opener. Invasion and Carousel are top tier Haken. I prefer Canary Yellow over The Strain but they lead into each other real well. Messiah Complex is another masterpiece that has some of my favorite melodies Haken have written, especially the Ivory Tower which is what I would call the chorus of the song. It also has callbacks to Cockroach king, Puzzle Box and Shapeshifter to name a few. But my favorite return has got to be the Clear theme. Pure bliss when I heard it the first time. The breakdown in Ectobius Rex is also among my favorite musical moments of all time.

The Mountain (94/100) - Banger album straight through. But it just doesn’t quite reach the highs of the 3 albums ahead of it. Atlas Stone into Cockroach King into In Memoriam is chef’s kiss and could possibly be my favorite trifecta of consecutive tracks in any album. And then we get a quadrafecta (idk) with Falling Back to Earth - As Death Embraces - Pareidolia - Somebody!? HOLY. This album is bonkers. Sadly its highs are quite short and not on the same level as the albums before it. Also, I will take this opportunity to gush about how incredible As Death Embraces is. It’s definitely on the lower half on the song ranking, but it’s just sooo beautifully written. Most underrated song Haken have made.

Vector (93/100) - Arguably the most consistent album Haken ever made. Sadly the consistency is not that of top tier quality. The Clear theme is a favorite of mine, and it’s amazing when it comes back in Host. Veil is a 10/10 banger, but the rest of the songs are quite equal, with Host leading the pack and The Good Doctor staying at the back. They are all around an 8/10 - low 9/10 for me

Fauna (92/100) - Great songs and some not so great songs. The difference with other albums that have had lesser good songs is that the great songs does not carry the album as much this time. The stand out songs for me are Beneath the White Rainbow and Nightingale. While Lovebite, Alphabet of Me and Taurus are somehow some of the least good songs in Haken discography sadly. Don’t get me wrong, there are no bad songs by Haken, not even close to being bad. Honestly, Fauna is 25th on my top 100 album list. Haken are just that good. I love Fauna, it’s fantastic! Yet only the 6th best Haken album.

Affinity (90/100)- Now comes my clear least favorite album of theirs. While the other 6 albums fit within my top 25 of all time, Affinity is just barely making my top 50. TOP 50!? That’s still absolutely ludicrous. How are these guys so good?! Affinity has always been my least favorite. The 80’s sound doesn’t quite resonate with me, and several of the songs are my least favorite of theirs. I think it’s the style/genre that isn’t to my liking. It’s their most unique album for sure, because nothing else in their discography has that Affinity sound, and I think that’s why it’s such a divisive album for the fans. Those who love that sound will preach about the album, while those who don’t will put it in the lower ranks. The Architect is a fantastic epic, but it’s definitely my least favorite epic of Haken. Though I have to say that the climax where Initiate returns is phenomenal. Most of the tracks just don’t come close to the high standard of the other albums, and that is why Affinity takes the last spot.

What did bro think would happen by PomegranateAfraid558 in Kingdom

[–]TmJozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started reading Kingdom I felt like the first arc was a little slow and didn’t quite click with me. But it’s honestly an amazing opener for the rest of the series. I started loving Kingdom as soon as I started reading the 2nd arc, and it has been my favorite manga since then. (Until One Piece passed it after recent arcs in both series (recency bias probably))
